Vets honored with photo of Russian Ships

Yup, first one is not a Krivak frigate, those 4 SSM tumes belong to a Sovremenny destroyer. The other 2 not enough detail...

Yes, I heard about that. Pitiful, isn't it?

And the jets are American but trainers. Couldn't they at least find a picture of the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds?

They just made mistake for sure.

It doesn't change my vote, though.

It showed that Russian Warships are better than American Warships

Americans always make Russians proud.

looks like somebody searched for a picture in google image and found it without double-checking it....

I watched the DNC youtube of the photos in the background. Definitely Russian, however, their fleet does not look that impressive today. Most are decommissioned or in need of major repair.

The Navy Times article cites a sailor: "Barker, the former sailor who first spotted the errors, believes the seven aircraft streaking by are F-5 jets, a trainer used by the U.S. Navy. Asked to explain how he reached that conclusion, the former airplane spotter ticked off a list: “Twin engine, single rudder, with hard points on the wingtips, with that silhouette is going to make them F-5s.”

The F-5E Tiger II was ordered in a small quantity by the Navy as a trainer for experiments at NAS Paxtuxet River, MD in the early to mid 1960's. It was never used for regular pilot training because it could not land on a carrier. The closest description we have is the T-2C Buckeye. All trainers are painted orange/white no matter which model. Either he misidentified the planes or that was a very old photo.

I knew when I first saw it on TV that the hulls looked strange.

Just have a question - who is responsible to set the picture, or design the picture for convention?

The more I look at the aircraft, They don't look like F-5's. F-5 has very short, stubby wings. U.S. Air Force and NASA has T-38 Talons that might be closer.

Russian ships are easy to identify:

The bows are raked up sharply.
Weapons of all types attached around the decks.
Radar systems attached like TV antennas at a trailer park.

Ok final guess. After looking at videos of aircraft in formations with white smoke trails, I am willing to bet those are the F-16's of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
