Very special?

Since I posted the scripture of Lev. 19:14, I don't feel "PRIDE" - because, I know that God really cares about DEAF and BLIND people. He just tells people NOT to curse the deaf/ and stumblingblock before the blind.

God is very protective over the deaf and blind people. It's what it made the deaf and blind people feel special - because, of their "hardship" lives God saw them through. Jesus healed the deaf people, didn't He ? He healed the blind people, didn't He ? He knows ! And, yet they both ( deaf and blind people ) PRAISED Jesus and preached Jesus to people. It doesn't make them PRIDE - it has NOTHIN' to do with pride.

It shows how much God really cares. And, of course God loves EVERYONE - but, He also tells them NOT to curse the deaf people/stumblingblock before the blind people. That's is That's all God wants people to KNOW. Plain and simple - there's NO childish or selfish in it. No favoritism either. Nada !

Is it so sinful that a person wants to boost their self esteem?? I don't think so! I was far from selfish! You are the one being selfish, because you are trying to put me down to make yourself feel better. I believe God made me deaf, and I am very special to Him. Everyone is special to Him! But mostly the deaf/blind/HC people! Especially the ones who recieved a dream from Jesus. Now THAT's what I call special! You wouldn't understand unless you've had the dream. I am not saying you are not special, because you are, and God loves you both. All I am saying is God made me deaf, and I'm special. I never said you weren't special. PERIOD.

There's many different interpretations of that verse, including God commanding us to not take advantage or look down on those who are less-advantaged, not just specifically people who are deaf or blind.

Obviously God chose a very special mission for you to whom he gave very few the qualifications--if by "special" you mean simply "unique" or "rare" mission I can accept it. Deafness helps you accomplish that mission, as does the ability to receive a dream. But the thing is, even those of us who have more "run-of-the-mill" missions (or who may seem to you to be "a dime a dozen") are all equally required to complete them successfully. We are each an integral, and equally necessary part of God's creation--and none of us is more important than the other even if we have different missions and qualifications for them. We are not expendable.

Go to verse 4 and read the entire chapter from there. Pay the closest attention to verses 21-26, and most especially 26. In other words, NONE of us ought to be jealous of each other because we have different traits and missions--the absence of any ONE of us, even if our job is a less "glorious" one than yours, will hurt the Body of Christ.

Can you appreciate why a person could take your words to mean that those who are not born with disabilities are less loved, less able to get to Heaven, and so on? It is not sinful to want to boost your self esteem--as long as you do not do it by snubbing others (which is what you accuse them of doing to you, BTW) as less important or weaker (less "special"?) than you. To do this would possibly compromise the mission you have been given by God--if people perceive that you look down upon them (whether rightly or wrongly), they will not be as receptive to your message as you would like.


Let me go back briefly to the story passage I posted at the beginning of this thread. Remember Grandfather Michael (the Elder of the order of blind warriors), and Tamros (sighted scribe for them)? Those two are part of a team that is interdependent. Because it takes place in medieval-like times and Braille didn't exist, if somebody had not read the Scriptures and theological treatises to Grandfather Michael, he would not have understood the significance of Communion and would not have been able to have the experience that he conveyed back to Tamros (giving him even deeper understanding of the books he reads). Either one's failure would destroy the entire team...Michael is not better than Tamros.

I don't think certain people are only special to God. All of us are equal special to God whether we are deaf, blind or hearing.

True here. I do not see us being special because of our body being not perfect. It is more alike for them to take advantage of their own deafness to manipulate people.

Let me ask you something....Do YOU want to be blind or handicapped? If you don't want to be blind or handicapped, WHY?? Is that hard????? Well, yes it is very hard. Disability people are WILLING to do the job for God's works so God feels that those people are very special to Him. Yes, we all are special to Him but for those disability people who are more special to Him. It is very clear to me. Normal people who say "no, disability people are not more special to God....we are all the same special to God...."....the truth is that normal people are jealous - that's part of sin....

Well alot of people I know accept their handicappedfor a long time because they are learn to positive their life.
Yes, I'm deaf but I consider me as normal person.

There is alot out there who suffer worst than u and me. they are not deaf, blind or handicap. Being deaf is nothing compare to what others who suffer. they don't get any special treatment alike u, every other deaf and me.
U know your family deal with your deafness, do u think it is easy for them? I dont think so. Pride is something we all have even u and me too. I will give u an example, " I am God's special because I am deaf" Is it right thing to say? I don't think so. What about your kids, dealing with your deafness too. don't u think they are special too for having u a deaf mom?

It's not just handicapped but hearing people, too.
Example about poor and sick people in different countries, drug addicts, very poor area, etc. etc. etc. cancer, AID, HIV, STD, homeless children/orphan children are the mainly WORST than handciapped... I feel for them... That's why I donate the money to orphan/homeless children for Xmas gift every first week of December every year. It's them, we should consider to, not worry about us as handicapped persons but NORMAL persons.

Don't you realize that many hearing people always said to deaf people "you are very special".....I always kept hearing the words "you are very special" all in my life and still now.

I would not like to hear about this... If anyone said this word to me... I would positive them that I'm NORMAL person like them who can do EVERYTHING except phone converstion.

No one said to my siblings "you are very special"...no one.

It shows that your siblings consider you as normal person.

My kids are a little bit more special because they have deaf parents - a little bit more special than my siblings and normal people. My parents were a little bit more special - like my kids. That is my strong belief because it makes perfectly clear to me.

Could you please explain bit more what exact you mean? I'm doubt either I understand you correct or not. Is it what you mean that your children consider you as abnormal person? My children consider me as normal person that they can talk anything with me. They use sign language to me because they know I use only sign language and have broke ear... (It's my children's favorite word when they talked to their friends, "my Mama & Papa have broke ears" when they were little. Their friends told them that their Daddy can repair our ear to hear... lol...

I agree with you that God is impartial in His love towards us, and to assert that one group is automatically more special than the other is erroneous. We get no better or worse chance of going to Heaven because of what sort of body we are given. I think each of us is given exactly the burden that our spirit in theory COULD handle, so what that means is our chance of success or failure is actually EVEN with everybody else. Whether we carry that burden well or not is the important thing. We are equally responsible for our sins, and we all sin.

The God give us strength to positive our life and accept what we are. We learn to accept our responsible and cope ourselves with kind of life what we lead to.

In my opinion, I think yes, deaf, blind, handicapped people are very special to God. God loves us all equally (normal people and not normal people) Normal people are still special to God but I feel that deaf, blind, handicapped people are more special to God than normal people. Why do I feel this way? It's because deaf, blind, handicapped people work very, very hard and it is a huge challenge. God found some people who are very strong so they can handle it very well when they are deaf or blind or handicapped. God needs those people to be deaf, etc so that way those people can do this for God's works. I asked many, many hearing people and even my hearing family - suppose if they were deaf, will they accept or don't want to be deaf? All of them said, "NO WAY, I don't want to be deaf!!" because they know that being deaf or blind or handicapped is really difficult. As for deaf person, it is very difficult to be deaf because it is so tough when you interact with normal people like communication difficulites, feeling of left out, etc. It is really frustrating in their whole life BUT they can handle it very well. God needs those people to be deaf, etc because God needs them to teach others about tolerate, patience, learning, etc.
My job is deafness for God's works.

I truly think that deaf, blind, handicapped people are very special to God. Normal hearing people should NOT be jealous of disability people for being very special to God. They have to understand the situation what God needs. It makes perfectly sense to me.

It's wonderful to create your image to positive over handciapped etc. It shows that you accept your deafness and try to find out the reason why the God choose handciapped.

But one point, I would like to say that God love us, no matter what. Look at poor countries what I said in my previous post. Theirs are worst than ours. It would be great when anyone describe to positive the sick people from poor countries because I ask to myself thousand of times the reason why the God choose to have kind of sick people like this in poor countries? I really never thought about my deafness but consider sick people in the world...

I would tell my kids, you are special to me. My mother would said that to me "You are special to me" It does not mean I am special because I am deaf but it means I am special to my mom because I am her baby just alike my boys. they are specail to me. People would say things like that to anyone even they tell people "your beautiful or your are so nice" etc... It goes same with God, everyone is special to Him becuase we all are His children.

I do not see myself a special because I am deaf, I only see myself as an individual a special to God just alike everyone else.

In my opinion, we are not extra special people than hearing people, We all are equal in God's eyes. Remember God loves each of us unconditional, He didn't say we are the specially ones. Being deaf is not a negative term, We can do just about the same as hearing people can do expect that we cannot hear, We have showed people out in the society what we can do, nothing stop our deafness from doing what we want to do. When you ask hearing people that question, They don't have no experience in what is like to be deaf, So really their opinion doesn't count because they haven't walk in our feet to experience life what we have, is nothing less than what they have. I don't like comparing, I believe that we all are special in our own way, because God created us.
