Using religious teachings to justify intolerance & discrimination

That always rips me. My father is a minister and he believes all gays should be round up and shot. His sole scripture for this is that homosexuality is an abomination to God. I won't even get into whether or not that has merit because some of my gay friends are christians and I am agnostic. What I will say is that his Bible the way he interprets it is against a hell of a lot more than that but the gays are the only people he uses the Bible against. F him. I had my gay friend who is Miss Gay IU as my bridesmaid in my last wedding. I'm sure I made my father proud aren't you? By the way, my friend was the first gay and the 1st black man to enter the local legion. Take that you prejudice bastards!

 I cannot believe hearing that coming from a minister. Dear God, that's harsh thing to say about anyone.

Thanks for posting that Liza, That's some long reading. :giggle: I don't see why some Christians who seem to be real worried about the homosexuals? They think that homosexuals simply choose a sinful lifestyle, which is not true, They are just attracted to the same sex, it's not by choice, it's how they feel.

Read this interesting article about Christians homosexuals. http://www.lionking.org/~kovu/bible/section13.html

and yeah, it's horrible to hear this homophobia, but things are getting SO SO much better! Many of my Catholic friends are totally OK with me being bi, and from talking to my uncle he wouldn't have been caught dead, being out to ANY of his religious friends in college. Bet you anything in ten or twenty years, we'll have progressed enourmously!

You're all welcome! :)

I thought it was a good read, too. This is definitely one of the things we do need to confront. It took one member to be a catalyst of change for this minister. Anything is possible!

Thanks.. I'm glad you liked the article, guys. :D

Moderators, I've PM'd a couple of you.. but please could you delete the quoted article immediately.. since I don't have the power to edit my own post at this time? Just leave the rest alone (my comments, links, title and writer name). Because it's against the copyright law to c/p an entire article without the author's permission, and it was my bad, really.

Interest article, wishing there is more people alike him. I remember my sister's father in law who used to be a preacher, he had service on Saturdays afternoon for them and regular on Sunday for anyone. He had a bigger heart than anyone I know of for being a pastor. I am still having hard time with some christians who judge them and fight to break them down.
