Update: Parents Arrested In Death Of Pine Bluff Infant
Update: Parents Arrested In Death Of Pine Bluff Infant - todaysthv.com | KTHV | Little Rock, AR

The mother and father of a six-month old girl are behind bars tonight suspected in her death. Pine Bluff Police say paramedics could not revive the baby this morning.

Two other children were in the house at the time of the incident. Police say the investigation quickly revealed suspicious circumstances and within hours both parents were arrested on probable cause of murder.

Just before 9 a.m. Wednesday morning police, fire and ambulance crews pulled up to a home of East Pullen Street in Pine Bluff, but six-month old Reeanna Robinson was already dead.

Lieutenant Bob Rawlinson says, "At about 11:30 detectives arrested the father because detectives had enough evidence to believe the father actually killed the baby and that the mother was present and she witnessed it and didn't do anything to stop it."

Dorothy Banks is Edward Robinson's Grandmother, crying she says, "It just hurts it hurts. She was too little he didn't have to choke her. She didn't need to be choked; she was too little."

Family on both sides say the couple had a rocky relationship.

Keisha Williams mother, Lisa Williams adds, "They said the baby has been dead ever since yesterday, but I believe this. I don't think my daughter did that to that baby I believe if she knew that and didn't say anything about it it's because she's scared she's scared of him."

But police say she's accountable, "She can get the same penalty and you can get up to the death penalty with capital murder so and it's extremely serious there is no justification for an infant to be killed like this," Lieutenant Rawlinson adds.

Williams has two other children, one of them is Robinson's, plus she's three months pregnant with their third child. Williams' mother says she wants custody of all the kids.

"The only thing I can do now is fight for them and that's what I plan to do I plan to fight for them," Williams says.

Keisha Williams' three-year-old is not Robinson's child and is with her biological father.

Both Robinson and Williams are being held for probable cause for murder until the prosecutor files formal charges. The state crime lab will autopsy the baby's body this week.

So sad and too common!

Shame people bring children in the world and not know how to deal with them.

A lot of deaths in infants are caused by suffocation or choking. Majority deaths are caused by Shaken Baby Syndrome.

Just thought to add that in this post. Hope you don't mind Sara. Due to parents do not realize that violently shaking a baby can kill them.

:(

Sad thing...

It is not always the parents. It is also the caregiver of the child.

I know of a person that is in jail due to this.

She is a caregiver has her own home childcare. She got frustrated because the baby would not stop crying. She shook the baby and place the baby back in the crib. The baby did not wake up.

She is still in jail awaiting trial. She confessed to all of it. So she will be in prison for a long time.

that true

People have NO reason to kill babies/small children. Babies and small children are 100% innocent.

I guess the mother didnt stop the father from choking the baby cause she was afraid that he may have hurt her as well?

A judge has decided there will be no bond for the Pine Bluff father charged with killing his own 6-month-old daughter. Police say 31-year-old Edward Robinson killed the baby while the child's mother, 23-year-old Keisha Williams, watched. We've also confirmed that Robinson was charged with domestic battery against Williams a few days before the baby's death.

"I need some answers. I was close to my grandbaby." Edward's mother can't believe her son is charged with killing his own baby, 6-month-old Reeanna Robinson.

Jefferson County Circuit Judge Rob Wyatt presided over the probable cause hearing where he told the baby's parents, Edward Robinson and Keisha Williams what they were charged with. "You've been arrested and charged with capitol murder. If convicted, you face life in prison without parole or death by lethal injection."

Prosecutors tell FOX16 that on Wednesday Reeanna started crying, like most babys do. They say Edward Robinson started getting frustrated and began choking her. "He strangled her to get her to stop crying. When she didn't stop, he attempted to do that again," said Prosecutor Kyle Hunter. "The body was stiff and blood was coming from her nose and she was unresponsive."

Outside the courtroom, Keisha's mom, Lisa Williams, is emotional. "She didn't ask to be killed because he was angry about something. He didn't have to kill her; he could have given her to me.”

Lisa Williams thinks she knows why her daughter didn't stop the child's father. “She was afraid of him. He was abusing her.

"I didn't think he was [capable of this], but he was very abusive. never though he would kill his own baby. [I'm] surprised he didn't kill his other two babies," said Lisa Williams.

Keisha has three other children and is three months pregnant.

Prosecutors have not decided whether or not they will seek the death penalty in this case.

An autopsy was performed and determined that the cause of death as strangulation. Bond was denied for Robinson, but a judge set a $100,000 bond for Keisha Williams.

Lisa Williams thinks she knows why her daughter didn't stop the child's father. “She was afraid of him. He was abusing her.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

i would agree with you!

This is absolutely sickening!

No doubt that the father will get a good dose of jailhouse justice, and the guards will simply look away and say they never saw anything happen nor heard anything.
