FCC extended the deadline from June 30, 2009 to November 12, 2009

People who use video relay service (VRS) or Internet Protocol relay (IP Relay) must have real 10-digit local phone numbers – by November 12, 2009 – to make non-emergency calls.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) extended the deadline (previously set for June 30, 2009) to give people more time to get their 10-digit local phone numbers.
Fake or “proxy” videophone (VP) numbers cannot be used after November 12, 2009.
VRS and IP Relay calls will not be connected without a real 10-digit local number after November 12, 2009.
Emergency 911 calls – without a 10-digit number – cannot be connected automatically (but will be connected as quickly as possible) to the nearest 911 emergency service center.
Benefits of 10-digit local phone numbers:
Your 911 emergency call can be sent automatically to the 911 emergency center that serves the location associated with your 10-digit number;Telephone users can dial your 10-digit number and be connected automatically to you through your VRS or IP Relay provider; andYou can connect with other VRS or IP Relay users by dialing a 10-digit number.The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) urges all VP, VRS, and IP Relay users to contact a VRS or IP Relay provider to get your 10-digit local phone number today.

They make delay because lots of Sorenson users do not get new 10-digital numbers yet. Waste time
 
Because FCC is a delay eating commission and we can't do anything. They postponed 3 or 4 times with the analog over the air shutdown and now it's finally shut down.

How? I don't buy your story since Sorenson does alert anyone to get 10 digit number, even I got email from them about 10 digit phone number as well.

It was FCC decision, not Sorenson.
 
Someone is just trying to find excuses to make Sorenson look bad cuz he works for Purple, so I ain't surprised.

Well it more information... it not just base on Sorenson fault. It say include Purple too. So mean that Purple did actually ask for delay in order for you guy ensure that Customer is attraction and say, I love it!

Meanwhile there are two that I think those service are top overall... It Sorenson and Viable...

Now narrow to the FCC issue...

What I found interesting those VRS sound concerned expect the Purple doesn't explain...

Beside you point to Sorenson that cause delay? No... can't you figure how many people who current us Sorenson product, I know some of you use Sorenson and even you still have Purple. Beside that... some Purple team didn't like the MVP that much... due the quality video issue is primary to us. Anyway... so my point the way you point point point point to Sorenson. Don't forget that Sorenson have spend money for us to get VP200 then final SNAP and then Viable and so on the VRS have grow that FCC's purpose do that but now its shake from tree out the VRS's product and think that wasteful to them while Deaf community felt that needed!
 
zerodog is right. All of the VRS is deeply concerned about the rate that was about to be cut. But, as for the delay, I think the letter to Sorenson is speaking on behalf of all of VRS including Purple, Viable, and SnapVRS; asking for delay that they wanted to ensure that everyone get their 10 digit-numbers handy. I am sure that all VRS is concerned and there are many more people that still need 10 digit numbers. Another reason that VRS is concerned about is the rate will be cut. FCC is the one made the decision and they listened to VRS about the 10 digit numbers.

I wasn't too happy about the delay but we have to accept the decision made by FCC. I noticed many other did explained about the FCC but one VRS did not do is Purple. Where is the message from Purple?? Why didn't they inform us?? No clue but maybe Purple is up to something and maybe disagreed with FCC ruling? What Purple is doing??? When Purple update MVP? When, when, when Purple??? All they say is, "Soon." Soon?? Gosh, I hate this darn word "soon" already...geesh...

Oh, when Sorenson will update the VP200? They haven't update VP200 in longgggggggggg time. Get moving Sorenson!! UPDATE!!!!! Another "soon"? geesh.....

What do you mean update the VP200? I have all digit numbers a ready..


About Purple, we want hear from Purple's concerns what could have impact too? So far, about the delay. Purple is also Goamerica, it has statement all VRS on listing.

:crazy: person doesn't want the real number, prefer the fake number due police or government can't find where they are.

I told that person, what about e911. Person think phone line is good enough... It example that VRS felt that many Deaf people in communty all around USA may have misunderstanding. I am not speak about you, just want be clarify if I say something :)

It parts... that VRSCA need research face to face around Deaf people. Like ask them,

' do you understand what FCC has statement about real number as VRS provide say about 10 digits number repeat?'

'do you know how E911 from videophone equipment (clarify not just VP200)'

and stuff that show standard failure of educational that blame school for not provide enough. So it would good benefit to push for public school to start explain how to use 911 when they are kid. Remember if your teacher asked you what is your home address, what is your phone number and how do you call 911? Same thing VRSCA is doing this right now...

However, VRSCA need more people to volunteer about FCC and their rights and what happen in future and stuff where they can review with FCC website instead blame with our point finger to VRS.

AND also my friend had to 'borrow' 940 instead of 903 because the 903 Area code is out. So she have no choice but to use 940 instead. Since I heard or not know if it's true or not that Sorenson is getting powerful and won most of cases that other VRS sue Sorenson. Also I heard that Sorenson complain over stupid issues. I think that Sorenson need to BACK OFF and leave other VRS alone. I also heard that Sorenson have 'Lobbist' with U.S. Congresses which is 'against' Federal Law which Obamaizes order it to HALT. No wonder one of my friends used to work for Sorenson but quit and never look back. =)

If you can't stand what FCC is doing, want start pay monthly to use VRS service?

How many people do you met person who understand how that VRS benefit to them and what VRS is try to provide them.

Speaking about Sorenson as powerful, its not true but the large numbers, Yes it true. Your friend who quit and not look behind back because that friend can't handle that issue or to improve expecting. Look at that where your friend standing right now.

I don't let that Sorenson or any VRS stand me back off.
