Hey everyone yesterday I went to the ER. I had something in my ear. I also have 2 outer ear infections. I'm on antibiotic ear drops.

what was it in ur ear?...Inner Ear infections were my problem for years and years.

I feel for you guys. I had an ear infection when I was about 4, but I've never had one since. They sound so painful. Hugs.

You have my sympathy, Kara. Yesterday I had two teeth pulled, the last tooth on the upper and bottom at the left side of my mouth, and this morning I awoke with an earache. I was prescribed antibiotics but no painkiller. (What the HECK????)
Anyway, I called a dear friend who happens to be an RN, and she promised me a few vicodins and should be by within the hour.
Take it easy.

Pimple? I had one... Chlosteatoma (disease, I had it)and had to have another surgery. 10 all together (both ears). I'm a veteran of ear surgeries...LOL.
Really !! Can they really operate so many times ? I'd lost hope after 2 surgeries but now I see that they can operate even more times, you've given me hope. :)

I've only ever had 1 really bad ear infection. I had bilateral ear infections about 2 or 3 years ago. It knocked about 75% of my hearing out in both ears for 6 weeks. The doctor said it was caused by swelling and a build up of fluid behind my ear drums on both sides. The hearing loss was annoying, but the pain was unbearable. I couldn't sleep. Any, even slight, touching of my ears caused so much pain.

Yes, if necessary. Chlostomea (not sure of the spelling, but it's close), can always come back. I also did have an ear disease, which I'm not sure of the spelling either. I did cry when the 9th surgery still did not stop the draining inside. My Ear Specialist did tell me there were some people who even had 15 surgeries...After the 10th one (on the Left ear). the doctor closed it off and I've been fine now for about 2 years. The CI Implant for the left ear was scrapped also, so I'm resigned to being profound deaf, over half my life.

Lucky you!. My doctor would never prescribe me that, all I got were 5 Loratabs, low dosage.

I have had 3 surgeries in both ears, I couldn't imagine 10!! My surgeries were for tubes though so minor. I also have a problem were my ear drum rubs my malleus bone, causing puss behind my ear drum. My ent wanted me to come in every 3 months to get it drains, but my insurance doesn't cover it and it is $600 to poke a hole in my ear drum!

I feel your pain. I'm currently trying to wait out this ear infection in my left ear and I can hardly eat, sleep, or drink without crying from being in so much pain. It's making my jaw hurt. ):

It sucks not having insurance right now.

I got so used to ear pain, I would let it go. One time the infection spread and wound up needing a root canal :(
