And she was talking about in this situation. Try to keep up. Maybe if you stayed on topic, it would be easier for you.

and so am I. Please stick with your own fight. again - you've been spouting that I've been off-topic. We're very much on-topic. Are you just nervous about your ship sinking? :)

because you have the computer and internet. majority doesn't. and Jillio - I will get back to you about computer/internet part because there is a fundamental flaw in your statement :)

You might want to check post #141 for that one, Jiro. I have already supported the fact that they do.

The fundamental flaw going on here is that you continue to argue a point that has already been proven wrong.

I remember someone (and we all know who) making the statement that I never admitted my mistakes. Was that projection, Jiro? Looks like you are having a bit of a problem admitting that you were wrong.

nothing to do with the H1N1.....

then explain your post -

Are you for real?!

Who's advice, do you think they are relying on!?

Mr. Magoo's?

Come on Jiro! You are pulling at straws now!

You actually think the President and V.P. are relying on their press secretary and speech writers??

They can make up their own speech and press.. Just like the media frenzies! reminds me of TMZ of the White House! :rofl2:

How is that related to H1N1 then?

and I'm not talking about CDC and WHO. My post is in response to BB's post about POTUS and VP not relying on press secretary and speech writer.

HUH?

I never said they did not rely on them... where have I said that?

I simply said, they DO, rely on them... but interpret it the way they want it to be for the media. Other words...what the press secretary is advising them to say.

then explain your post -

I realize that you seem to have a great deal of difficulty staying on topic, but concentrate here. We are discussing H1N1. That is how it is related. It was a response to this post from you:

Unfortunately... in real world - both President's and Vice President's voices carry with a far more authoritative weight than CDC and WHO. That's why it's very important for them to carefully word their statement. That's why White House has press secretary and speech writer

The politicians are not responsible for medical reccommendations. The doctors are.
The political heads have the final say on what gets revealed, concealed, or promoted. Politicians control the budgets and staffing of the medical departments. Doctors know they have to play the political game in those agencies.

I'm not discounting doctors. The question was whether or not political posts should be included in this thread. I've made the point that they should be included.

I don't mind the political posts being included, since it seems to be important to you to turn every topic into a political one. I do, however, object to the implication that politicians are making medical decisions.

I am on topic! Which obviously you are not.

I am speaking from your post, regarding to the Presidential announcements relying on their "Press secretary" about his speech on economy! Which has nothing to do with what we are speaking of.

Your Post of photos of signing and etc... had nothing to do with the H1N1.

Here is your question to me:

and do you think majority of Americans have computers? and access to internet?

My reply was "yes". And here is the support for my statement:

More than half of the households in the United States had one or more computers in 2000, and more than 80 percent of these households had at least one member using the Internet, according to the U.S. Commerce Department's Census Bureau.

The Census Bureau found that 54 million households (51 percent of the nation's households) had at least one computer in August 2000, an increase from 42 percent in December 1998.

Internet and web Statisitics-Computer, Net Access Standard for Many Americans

51% is a majority. And that was in 2000. You can be assured that the percentage has increased since then.

Now, would you like to apologize for stating that my reply was false?

lol.... you need to research more carefully. From the link you provided -

The Census Bureau report uses data obtained from 50,000 U.S. households as part of the Current Population Survey (CPS). It is not based on Census 2000, which did not include questions on computer or Internet access.

tsk tsk tsk........ :nono: I guess you need to go and search your academic database for topic called "Digital Divide." I can suggest you a reputable, peer-reviewed source (but it's very dry) if you like. Would you like to apologize for questioning my qualification and expertise in IT field? Again - this is precisely why Biden should really watch what he says especially regarding health scare.

right and? On the subject of H1N1 - what should happen is that the POTUS/VP should let CDC do the talking and butt out. :)

WHO is made up by several different medical professionals!!

http://www.who.int/governance/en/index.htm

Governance

The World Health Assembly is the supreme decision-making body for WHO. It generally meets in Geneva in May each year, and is attended by delegations from all 193 Member States. Its main function is to determine the policies of the Organization. The Health Assembly appoints the Director-General, supervises the financial policies of the Organization, and reviews and approves the Proposed programme budget. It similarly considers reports of the Executive Board, which it instructs in regard to matters upon which further action, study, investigation or report may be required.

The Executive Board is composed of 34 members technically qualified in the field of health. Members are elected for three-year terms. The main Board meeting, at which the agenda for the forthcoming Health Assembly is agreed upon and resolutions for forwarding to the Health Assembly are adopted, is held in January, with a second shorter meeting in May, immediately after the Health Assembly, for more administrative matters. The main functions of the Board are to give effect to the decisions and policies of the Health Assembly, to advise it and generally to facilitate its work.

The Secretariat of WHO is staffed by some 8000 health and other experts and support staff on fixed-term appointments, working at headquarters, in the six regional offices, and in countries.

The Organization is headed by the Director-General, who is appointed by the Health Assembly on the nomination of the Executive Board.

Yes! When they spread inaccurate information!!

That is why many people are asking the society, to rely on the CDC and WHO.. instead of the "Media" :)

You have lost your mind. That doesn't have anything to do with the fact that 51% of Americans had at least one computer in their household in 2000. You don't need academic research to discover that.

Here's another one for you:

Nearly 75% of U.S. households have Internet access at home, according to a Nielsen//NetRatings survey.

US Broadband Penetration Jumps to 45.2% - US Internet Access Nearly 75% - March 2004 Bandwidth Report

And another one:

More than half of the nation is now online
. In September 2001, 143 million Americans (about 54 percent of the population) were using the Internet — an increase of 26 million in thirteen months. In September 2001, 174 million people (or 66 percent of the population) in the United States used computers.Americans are going online to conduct an expanding range of activities.

How Americans Are Expanding Their Use Of The Internet

This is the digital divide:
The "digital divide" -- the divide between those with access to new technologies and those without --

Ruralfacts: Rates of Computer Ownership and Internet Use; A Comparison of Urban and Rural  Access for People with Disabilities

As you can see, the digital divide has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that more than half (a majority) of Americans have at least one computer in their home, that 66% used computers, and that 54% were using the Internet as far back as 2001. This is 2009. The numbers will have increased significantly since then.

Stop trying to BS your way through this and admit that you have been proven wrong by more than one source.

Now you show me your academic research that disproves it, Mr. IT professional. You don't have it. You can't find it. Face it. You spoke too soon in an attempt to throw your weight around and try to discredit me, and it has simply been turned on you. You should have stopped earlier. LOL LOL.

right. and who do you think majority of Americans listen to? POTUS/VP or WHO?

That is what is creating a frenzy!!!

WHO and CDC has more accurate information. Many people do not rely on that. but I am one of the few that does!

Many people rely on what the Media "Including the Presidential advisers" have to say. To me that is nothing but, hearsay!!

exactly!!! When I read what Biden said - I went  "oh no!!! not another gaffe! he's been SOOOOO good since VP.... DOH!"

It's not important for me to "turn every topic into a political one"--politics is involved almost everywhere and controls almost everything. Maybe it's important to you to deny that politics plays such an important role in all aspects of life. :D

I do, however, object to the implication that politicians are making medical decisions.
Objection noted.

thank you!!!! you finally understand!

No, you finally understand. Babyblue and I have been saying all along that you need to go to the CDC and the WHO for accurate information.
