Tune - Up

NO OIL!!!! There is some of cream you could buy from auto part store specifically designed for this.
Can you please give me the name for that? Hubby wants to get some.

Normally we should have loosen and retight spark plugs once a while, but this rarely happens. Today, with platinum spark plugs, it can last 100k miles without compromising the quality!
Hubby agrees. He just replaces plugs and wires but doesn't need to adjust them. Our Durango is in the 90k now, so he will probably replace them before his long trip this month.

Im not sure exact name, but you usually can find it on top of the counter. These small bags called "Just enough", those lubricant and sealant etc for various applications. Similiar to Anti-seizure paste where you could apply on bolt and tighten them without seize them. There also have protection application where you could put in spark plug cap to maintain good contact between metals.
Just ask the counter guys, and they should know the answer.

diehardbiker65's statement:

My truck motor blew up a month ago, sure so much timing for rising fuel cost and was forced to use my gas guzzler SUV. So, fortunately for me that I am jack of all trades. I found a motor from junk yard for 350 dollars, compared to brand new for 4,000 dollars, even 2,000 dollars for rebuilt one.

Well I took it apart for inspection, found couple cracks in head so I took it back to the junk yard, they gave me rebuilt one at no charge. Then when i was ready to reassemble, I found out that the connection hole was too large, damage was done to the block so I took it back to the junk yard. Of course I was SO MAD! BUT, what I did was being nice to the junk yard owner all the way I wait very patiently with him even though it is pain in the rear! The owner did everything he could and ENDED UP exchanged with almost BRAND NEW block! So, I got almost brand new motor for cute 350 dollars!!!! (No additional charge for exchange!) That is because I was being very nice with the owner, and the owner treated me back MUCH more than I could image!

Anyway, I am now off going down to throw new motor in my truck!

How does this happened?

I had the similar problem with my old '86 Blazer. I hired someone to replace the mainframes. Later, another problems were two bolts on mainframes that were cracked, brake problems, and oil tank leaked. I gave it up and sent it to the junkycard. I bought my used Ford Explorer 96. I believe that it started at a gas station because of cheap gas - an India owner owns the gas station. Most India people are really very cheap. He might have added llittle water in the station's tank - who knows.

I just found it out, it is called anti-seize lubricant.

Not sure what motor your blazer got. But, GM made one of the best engines during 80's I had these vortec engine with over 200k miles without any problem whatsover. Generally when a garage mechanic gets used motor from junk yard, they don't disassemble and test anything. Just throw in with 30 days guarantee. What I just learned is that 93 to 95 there was design flaws in 2.2l motor, they redesigned in 96 for better oil gallery system. I think it is because they have convert from old fashioned distributor cap to HEI Coil which is now controlled by computer, meaning automatic re-tune-up every seconds! Now, I have 2001 chevy cavailier and fits in my truck real nicely! Just minor modification. Im almost done with this job. Not much free time for this one. grrrr! But THANK GOD I did disassembled two motors and found there defective! Save my time and money in long run.

i need help

hey i'm new to this whole car thing. but i bought a 1993 ford thunderbird and ever sice I bought it the guy who sold it to me told me that the radiator wasn't that good. and I was just wondering if that was the reason why my car overheats pretty quikly when i DRIVE IT the ride is smooth. but if it overheats it starts kind of shaking. other problem is when i bought it sometimes when i preesed the gas after a stop or light my car would just shake and die. so i got that fixed i changed the sensor and the gas filter, and my car worked pretty good for a while but now when i do the same the car shakes a little but it doesn't turn off so could this mean that it needs a tune up?

I assume that you will need a new radiator and EGR Valve (to control the heat temperature on top of the manifold - a sort of near carburetor). Are the spark plugs, cables, and spark plug wire retainer are new? My father had a firebird car a long time ago.

If you have a hard time to unscrew your spark plugs, you must be careful not to crack the spark plug otherwise, a thin pin inside the plug might fall in the manifold, and it would cost you a least two thousand of dollars to take the manifold apart.

Just spray oil on the unbroken spark plugs and wait for a few hours or a couple of sprays for a few days. Suppose, you broke a spark plug, you will need a special tool to take other broken part out. After that, look at to see a pin if it is still in the hole. Just startup your car in 3 seconds. The air pressure will "push" the pin out of the hole. If the pin is not there in the hole, then you are out of luck - unless you see the pin is on the ground. (If you see a pin on a broken plug, then you are safe. I would double check whether if a pin is in the hole or not.)
