The movie End of the Spear will be released to theaters Jan. 20.

http://www.endofthespear.com/

It is the true story of five missionaries killed by Indians in Ecuador.

The names Jim & Elisabeth Elliot, and Nate Saint are familiar to most Christians. Elisabeth's well-known book was Through Gates of Splendor.

"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose."
--Jim Elliot

I had seen the preview of this movie on TV and I thought it would be a good movie to watch. Looking forward to it.

I never said I was prejudiced. I just have seen many things that made me think another wise. Actions speak louder than talk.

And we have noticed your actions, especially with the confederate flag. Hey, bring it over and we'll have a confederat flag burning party! :thumb:

I usually wait for movies to come out on DVD, except for the IMAX theater. I haven't been to a regular movie theater in many years but I might go for this film.

Oh this is the movie people were talking about.......anyone know if it's sympathetic to the missionaries or the Indians? I mean I can understand why/how someone who's an evalingalist/fundamentalist would feel a zeal to go down and win souls for Jesus.......but on the other hand, I do undy why the natives would feel frustrated with the missionaries' zeal.

American Family Association (AFA) is making a fuss over the movie because Chad Allen is in it. The actor is a gay activist.

Seems like American Family Association hates everything now. All they do now is cry, cry, cry and cry over everything while they should be enjoying their lives.

The movie is not captioned anywhere in USA.

I have posted this comment on the movie's website.

"I would like to know why this movie is not captioned for the deaf/hard-of-hearing and neither is it formatted for people with vision disabilities? I was floored and surprised to learn that it wasn't at any theatre in the United States, which a theatre owner told me. I thought Christianity is supposed to be inclusive, not exclusive, but I was proven wrong. This is very sad and I cannot endorse this work until it is changed."

End of the Spear came in 7th over the weekend with $4.7 million from only 1,163 theatres.

That's quite a surprise for a movie that wasn't largely promoted through the mainstream media.
