Out of curious, does anyone around here or you know anyone ever take the courses at Tom Brown Jr's Tracker School in NJ, FLA or CA? I am thinking of register and go there... One instructor I know works at Tom Brown Jr's Tracker School know how to sign language (very good at it since his ex-girlfriend is a deafie and well-known at Gallaudet).

More information on Tom Brown Jr's Tracker School at: http://www.trackerschool.com/

You know, backpacking, camping, etc etc.. It is common knowledge that people are still using civilized equipments to survive in the wilderness. Well, Tom Brown Jr is teaching at Tracker School to how to survive without these civilized equipments. Only one pant, one T-shirt & hooded-sweater, one underwear, one pair of shoes, one pair of socks, one army issue canteen and one high quality survival knife. That's it. Nothing else and learn how to survive in the wilderness by using wilderness' resources. Several movies used him to teach some famous actors how to make a fire, how to track the animals or humans, etc etc. He is a legendary tracker, many people has been hired him to track down their friends, their children, their loves, etc etc.

The price is pretty steep but I believe it will be worth my money & time. That instructor's deafie ex-girlfriend loved it and practically ranted about wonderful experiences she had in there a while ago. In fact, I read nearly all of his (Tom Brown Jr) books and it was quite amazing.

Actually, Tom Brown Jr does not need any clothes, knife or canteen. He once or twice discarded everything and went into the wilderness naked (yes, I am serious. He walked naked into the wilderness when he discarded everything to challenge his skills) and survive there for two years or longer, not remember how long he stayed there. He know how to make the clothes from animal's furs. He know how to make a sharp knife from stone. He know how to find a drinkable water in the wilderness (even though the drinkable water is diminishing greatly due to Bush's environment policy. More and more wilderness groups have to save the money and buy the lands to protect the drinkable waters from industries & corporates and their chemical dumps. Since Bush's environment policy does not forbid industries from dumping thier chemcials in rivers, lakes, drinkable water, etc). Tom even know how to survive in the wilderness during winter.

Anyway, I don't think people around here are interesting in outdoor activities like Tom Brown Jr's but I will never know if I didn't try and ask, right? Or maybe some of you think that I am insane to try that :P
