Since I know some of you are a Rubella baby just like myself, do you want to join this list called HKNC RUBELLA? There are many members here just like myself, and it's free to join...all you have to do is chat by mailing list, but talk about your experiences as a Rubella baby. I have learned so many things about myself since I've been on this list!! :) Several of them are deaf or hoh (and some of them are also blind). Some of the people on the list are parents of Rubella children, and others are like us...the Rubella babies. :)

HKNC MAINTAINS A LISTSERV FOR INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN CONGENITAL RUBELLA SYNDROME.

If you want to join the list, go here:

If you do join the group, I will be happy to see you and meet other people like us! :) If you don't want to join, that's ok.
YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO JOIN...unless you want to. :) I just thought you may want to know about this site of a unique group of people. :) I never heard of "high functioning Rubella baby" until now...which this is what I am (meaning I have good IQ. LOL). :)

Fly Free, if you are born with congenital rubella and became deaf from this conditon, you are eligible to join the list. :)

"Rubella Babies" are children who were born with congenital rubella syndrome...as is, their mothers have contracted the German Measles (aka Rubella) virus during their pregnancies. The worst time is the first 4 months which is where fetal development has taken place. Most deaf people became deaf or HOH this way from congenital Rubella is during this time, or during the 5th month of pregnancy. Other conditions with CRS (congenital rubella) is heart problems, blindness, interuterine growth problems, etc.

Here's a link to read more about this condition: http://star.nm.org/manual/rubella

Hope I help to explain this condition...this is one of the ways people become deaf or HOH by birth or developed after birth. :)

I'm also a Rubella baby, but I was not born deaf until later as the virus was still active when I was born. So am I eligible for the Rubella group? :)

Yes, I'm rubella child..

The doctor found out that my friend got rubella, that's time she was 3 months pregnant. It means that she has to stay at home until her baby will be born on 9th August.

She can't beleive it because she got rubella spot when she was 14 years old.

I'm not able to see her with my children because of those... We spent most of our time is using MSN online chat.

Interesting....
I'll pass this to my friend's friend who has a baby was born deaf due to ruebella.
