The toaster that's still going 56 years on

They just simply make products cheap to make and they are low quality....translate to shorter lifespan, many of the parts are non replaceable either. It's cheaper to buy new than repair them nowadays.

That is true,Sequoias. I don't believe that the toaster would not be lasting that long if past people have been using it all the time. I believe that they only use the toaster rarely not all the time. Yeah, it could mean that people can take better care of their toaster and also get the toaster repair sometimes if they want to keep it and not buy a new toaster. That is hard to believe that the toaster is FIFTY years, very rare. I always buy a new toaster as I don't know how to fix it for repair, even my husband don't know how to fix it if it break down. It is easier to buy new than to repair it. "sigh", that is very interesting.

Wow what an interesting story this is... yeah in the past lot of stuffs were built to last longer when nowadays one doesnt last for couple of years. Sucks. yet they are overcrowding our planet no where to go.... but need to recycle them...

have u seen the news yesterday about ocean being dirty and filled with trashs? sad...

MY grandmother has a TV that is close to 20 years old. Our microwave is almost as old and it works great, even better than most newer microwaves.

Im a very firm believer in you pay for what you get. If you pay cheaply for an item your expecting quality out of, youre going to get cheap short term usage out of it.

Id rather buy an item one time rather than having to upgrade items numerous times in the course of a couple of years.

Kinda like expecting Doc Marten quality out of a pair of Kmart shoes.

But in this case the woman paid alot of money when she bought the toaster and it turned out to be a good quality toaster that has more than paid for itself many times over throughout the years.

My mum has had her rice cooker for 23 years - its a couple of months older than me hahaha! It still works like a charm! I want it haha. She also had a jaffle maker (also older than me) - think she threw it away cause it was leaking oil last time I remember using it few years ago.
