The Health Consequences of Smoking: A 2004 Report of the Surgeon General

http://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/sgr/sgr_2004/index.htm

The Centers for Disease Control issued this new comprehensive report on smoking and health, revealing for the first time that smoking causes diseases in nearly every organ of the body. Published 40 years after the surgeon general’s first report on smoking - which concluded that smoking was a definite cause of three serious diseases - this newest report finds that cigarette smoking is conclusively linked to diseases such as leukemia, cataracts, pneumonia and cancers of the cervix, kidney, pancreas and stomach.

Of course, there's always something to blame for whenever a part of our body fails. "Ma'am, your leg muscle is cramped up. Blame it on the Hershey bar you ate last week."

So? thats old news...we all know that smoking is harmful to our healths...nothing new....does anybody have cure for stopping smoking? my husband wants to quit but it is very very addictive so it is very very difficult.
He has overcome drug addiction years ago but he just cant quit smoking so do ya have any cures for it? heh!!

Hmmm, I know some who smoking stay alive until 80 years old but some not.

Well here's mine:

I'm one in the family who don't smoke!

My brother vowed that he want to give his smoking habit up in January 1990. (He's chain smoker). He usually smoke when he get out of the bed. My sister woke him up and give him cigarette on that New Year Day. My brother said firmly No. It's 14 years since he quit smoking.

My father and his 2nd wife are also chain smoker. They give up their smoking habit in 1991. They does it well with their own strong willing. His 2nd wife died of lung cancer in June 1992.

My hubby quit smoking (he's not chain smoker) but he did it well last April 2004.

All my siblings and family give up smoking habit except my mother and sister.

Most of my German friends are smokers and don't smoke in their house and accept that we don't want to have smoking in our house, too. My hubby is one of them. He smoke outside. I was surprised and impress that Germans's respectful way for not smoke in the house. I don't like smoking in my house. We don't have problems with smokers because they respect us.

I remember when I live at appartment in England before married. My friends and family pulled their faces when I told them to not smoke in my appartment. They don't come to my appartment often. That's what I admire Germans's manner behavior and respectful way.

My parents-in-law are chain smokers. They smoke in the kitchen for years until they notice that we don't do wallpapers every year like they did in their kitchen and give up to smoke in the kitchen but outside to save work hard on wallpapers every year.

I let my parents in law to look after Danny (he was 4 months old) while my hubby and I go out. We found out that they have full smoke air in the kitchen where Danny slept in his cot. You hardly see them with full smoking air. We are total mad and took Danny away from smoking kitchen and go outside for fresh air. They laughed at us when I told them that it affect baby heathly when they carried on smoking (they use 3 box of cigarettes a day). Few years later they apolgoly me and realized what I said is right about affect the children when you smoking.
