Jesus Christ is a source of deep offense to the educated mind of today!

Knowing about the Bible and actually knowing (thru experience) the Author are two different things. Without the Holy Spirit's illumination (giving understanding), reading the Bible has no meaning. Without the Holy Spirit, the Bible is just a book; with the Holy Spirit, the Bible is a love letter from God.

It is like someone "knowing about" France but never touching France. Someone can read about France, watch movies about France, learn to speak French, eat French food, and wear French clothes and perfume. But that is not the same experience as actually travelling to France and living there for years, with the people, on the land and in the cities. Daily riding a bike thru the French villages, sunning on the beaches, or nighttime walks thru Paris.

Only people who are saved by Jesus have the Holy Spirit within; that is the experience. Only they can truly understand God's Word. The good news is, that experience is available to anyone who wants it. :)

The code

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

It's up to you, yourself. I wouldn't go into that mockery.

Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Where's this NorthStar Bible Institution located at? Is it of a denomination or none whatsoever? Nice to know there are such ppl. like yourself who lives by the Bible...(heh, been around the Bible since I was born... :giggle: , but I do know where you're coming from though ;) ) As for myself, it's been over 20 years and still going strong....

Mark 28:30-31 'And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.' --what Christ answered in referring to what is the most important commandment--
Psalms 119:33 HE. Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.

Psalms 119:34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

mocking?

If anyone is mocking it's someone who doesn't understand that ANY message can be found by highlighting letters in strings of text.

You could go through the Satanic verses and find loving words from Jesus.

You can find the code in The U.S. Consitution that predicts Bill Clinton therefore it must be inspired.

The Bible Code is a hoax. It's debunked by many skeptics. They used the same "formula" on other books to predict and results are the same. It's a trick. There are no prophecies. The "prophecies" in the Bible are so vague that it can mean ANYTHING and Christians/Jews have been making them for the past 8000 years saying that their prophecies are fulfilled when in reality, they aren't!

How can 66 books (in a single Bible) be written all in different times so remote and yet they match up in predictions?

They don't. Even the Mormon Bible made prophecies and since they "came true" the Mormon Bible must be true and you're going to hell for not believing in them. The Koran made prophecies as well.

They are bogus.

First; Yes I'm back, summer is over and I'm back.
Second; Here is a list of non-biblical contemporaries:
http://www.westarkchurchofchrist.org/library/extrabiblical.htm
Third; Read the "Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel.

As for Evolution being a Theory and and Fact??? what? it cannot be both.
Evolution: within the same species occurs. That would be the fact.
Evolution: from one species to another. That would be the theory.
Fact is there is little evidence, if any of the latter.
Fact is there is almost no evidence of a benificial mutation.
You may find one example, but honestly ... we didn't get here by one beneficial mutation. (Hint, it has nothing to do with sicle cell anemia)

Examples of Corruptions to the NT
  • Markan appendix - not found in early manuscripts - there are now FOUR differing versions of endings to Mark (the short, plus 3 versions of how it ends)
  • Matt. 6:13 - to this day, there are different versions in various bibles - the early manuscripts show that "For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen" is a later addition.
  • Luke 3:22 - early witnesses have : " . . . and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou are my son, this day have I begotten thee"
later manuscripts have the KJV version : "...Thou art my beloved son; in thee I am well pleased"
  • John 9:35 - The KJV has "...son of god", but the early manuscripts show "..son of man".
  • John's periscope of the Adulteress - not found in the early witnesses - generally agreed to be a later addition.
  • Colossians 1:14 - the phrase "through hs blood" is a later addition.
  • Acts 9:5-6 - Absent from early manuscripts - a later addition.
  • Acts 8:37 - "And Phillip said, if thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God" Absent from early manuscripts - a later addition.
  • John 8:59 -"...going through the midst of them, and so passed by"
Absent from early manuscripts - a later addition.
  • 1 John 5:7 The Trinity formula found here only originated centuries after the events. Bruce Metzger notes : "The passage is absent from every known Greek manuscript except eight, and these contain the passage in what appears to be a translation from a late rescension of the Latin Vulgate . . . "
Do you know that Bruce Metzger is an unbeliever? I am aware of verses that you listed above because I realize that they are what modern version defenders unhonestly talked about.

That's rather irrelevant, Askjo, whether Metzger is an unbeliever or a hippie or a patriotic American, or...

If you think you can judge the truth of a claim by looking at the person who makes them, then you are engaging in fallacious reasoning. :dunno:

It is like History....

I looked in the World History book, there are Canaan, Cush, Hitties, Egyptians, Pharoah, Caesar, King David, Solomon, Hebrew, and
everybody else in there....
SO we can't throw away our Bible, that is the only thing
that go way way way back. It tells us who we are, and where we come from.
Atheists said they won't throw away the Bible... even though they don't believe in God.

I realized that Bruce Metzger does not believe in the Bible. That is why he is a textual critic.

He offended the Jewish and Roman scholars, lawyers, priests, and rulers of his days here on earth. He said many would be offended because of our belief in him today. He said it would be so. He also said that his followers would be persecuted. And increasingly so in the latter days. It really does not matter to me if someone is offended by my belief in Jesus the Christ. My home, my reward, my eternal life is not here anyway.

textual critics get no respect

Again, that's still irrelevant. You seem to be saying this:

Unbeliever said X.
Everything unbelievers say is false.
Therefore, X must be false.

This is a fallacy that doesn't actually address the truth of X. No if, and, or but about it.
