Getting the Living Will may be good and dandy, but it might possibly backfire on you, especially when you are not even terminal. I was reading an article about the Living Will and it is....scary. :Ohno:

It's way too long to post the article here in full, so I'll post a link and let you read for yourself to see what it is all about. It made me more CAREFUL if I want to draw up an Living Will!

Are You Being Targeted for Euthanasia?

What do you think?

.

Wow. What happened to the oath?

I knew this was happening here and there. Nearly every year you see a news story of a nurse caring for the elderly being charged in multiple deaths. Is this compassion? I didn't realize it was so prevalent though. God save us from well meaning medicos playing god.

Well, that's why we all have to work with lawyers to draw up our living will to protect us from these blood-sucking politicans like Tom DeLay or Bill Frist.

I somehow found it funny... people are scared of "Euthanasia" which euthanasia or life support unplugged is completely approved, humped and kissed by Bush with his Texas Futile Care Law. I will pray to God everyday that I hope people will find the irony in that and do something about it...

Anyway, that's one of few reasons why I contacted my lawyer to redefine my Living Will. Blood-sucking politicans cannot be trusted anymore.

There aren't any politicians mentioned in these articles and links. It is out of control medical professionals comitting murder. Euthanizing helpless patients against their wishes and agains their families wishes.

You're not reading very carefully, sir. Even though the patients DO have Living Wills, the doctors chose to disconnect life support machine, etc., EVEN THOUGH THE PATIENTS ARE STILL ALERT, CONSCIOUS AND NOT TERMINAL AT ALL. Especially the elderly people. And the doctors said they are only following Living Wills, never mind what the patients said they are NOT ready to die! It's may be a small percent of that happening across the nation...neverthelss, it could get worse. That's why I find it so scary. 0_o

I am sure that you know what I mean. Theresa Schiavo was surrounded by the circus when Tom DeLay and Bill Frist pushed the Schiavo bill. By that, I mean I don't want to be end up 'martyr' by these blood-sucking politicans.

Redefine the Living Will will protect all of our dignities from these politicans and the circus.

There was many times that the 'fault' isn't lie in medical professionals, it was in someone else. Many time. Very, very, very, and very good example: Texas Futile Care Law. Or harsh hospital policies which medical professionals have to comply or get fired. Whenever I remember the title of book, I will suggest you to pick it up and read. I read this book several years ago and learned the 'dark' side of hospital policies and politicans. Medical professionals are perfect goats for them to stab as sacrifice to satisfy the public who blinded by their angers.

Um. I do read very carefully. I think all of us need to broad our views a bit... Most of these 'incidents' was due to hospital policies, not medical professionals. I explained a bit in my previous post about that.

Edit: I guess I will have to look for these old articles (if these are still existing) once again to prove my point about hospital policies, politicans and relatives who caused more issues than medical professionals do.

Oh, alright.
Actually, your article did make me think more about my Living Will. I don't know what to do about it. I will have to talk to Nas about it and see what we can do about our Living Will.

*sigh* I wish I was born in Medieval times... Simple lifestyle. But again, since I am deaf, I am sure that I will be treated awful though.

"WILL TO LIVE" vs. "LIVING WILLS"

I was reading the blog just a while ago which has a strong opinion about "Will to Live VS Living Wills" and suggested that anyone who wants "Will to Live" forms (as an alternative to the Living Will) can go to Will to Live Project and download one for yourself.

I've already downloaded a couple of "Will to Live" for myself and for my husband. No way do we want to be done in prematurely by a bunch of euthanasia-happy hospital staff who think they are doing us a favor by "offing" us BEFORE we are ready!!!

Excellent. I now can use it to discuss with Nas to see if we miss anything or not. Thanks, Toonces and that information is quite useful for both of me and Nas to protect ourselves from blood-sucking politicans.

btw, Nas informed me few hours ago, her professor announced at the classroom that lawyers got many messages/calls/emails from their clients more than ever about Living Will. Common reasons: politicans, congress intervention, doctors and parents. Almost 300% of requests in two days.

Edit: And oh yeah, lawyers will get richer for a while. I also am glad that I subscribed this topic because I get this feeling that you may will add the more information about Living Will.

Second Edit: I found this Living Will pdf... very interesting because of one-sided information and placed the blames on medical professionals or courts. Wow, what a tunnel-vision. Maybe I can suggest to this author of Living Will to pick this Tunnel Vision and read. Hopefully that will help that author of Living Will out. I mean, hospital administrators/policies and politicans are part of responsibilities/faults too. Oh well, after all we are in America!

Uh hu. In my Living Will, it said: "no extraordinary treatment" which this Living Will pdf suggested to not say that in Will. I guess I have to change that one.

One question about this Living Will (Since Nas will not get home until late night due to class/interpreting). What is a "conservatee"? I checked the dictionary and... nothing.

Me either. But I found "conservator", which, under law term means "One that is responsible for the person and property of an incompetent". So I'm guessing that "conservatee" is a person whom "conservator" is responsible for..something like guardian/ward?

Mag, I am toooooo tired and a bit under the weather today to look for my Black's Law Dictionary but try conservatorship, conservator, etc....

That's what I thought so. But I am not sure if I did get it right or not until you mentioned the definition of "conservatee".

Many thanks! This pdf is very, very informative. It is a-must for everyone to download and read (or print then read). I am so glad that you posted these links, Toonces.

"Black's Law Dictionay"? That's really good idea... I need to buy that dictionary book. But yeah, it is under conservator as Toonces explained above. Thanks!

Tousi, is this Black's Law Dictionary book?

I am pretty sure "conservatee" would be yourself when you write your Living Will......

Mag, yes, that's the book but I believe mine is a condensed version, can't remember....

Gotcha. Thanks again!

I already added this book to my cart list.
