Tomorrow starts another semester of college for me. This will start my sophomore year at Southwest Tennessee Community College with a major in General/Liberal Arts (you know what that means! :P ). So who all is going (or has gone) to school. What year will it be, and where at? Major?

I am going to San Diego State University, third-year junior, major in Fine Arts with an Emphasis in Painting and Printmaking. Have been gone to SDSU since 2003... hopefully to finish up in 2006. :)

School is starting on Wednesday the 31st. Yes, my uni is kind of kinda a rebellious campus against all other local schools. Community colleges started last week and all other local universities (that are using semesters, not quarters) start tomorrow. We always have different dates for spring break, winter break, and the last day of semester. ALWAYS. And this rules out any fun break with ANY of my friends (in or out of state!).... :tears: At least I got the WEEKENDS!

And Liberal Arts is NOTHING! It is equivalent to an UNDECIDED major! ;-) You just haven't decided on the career... ;) Just giving you a hard time. Liberal Art is really BROAD but it is good for people who don't want to feel limited to one field of studies...with that major, you get to learn a lot of different areas which is cool. My husband majored in Liberal Arts and he did learn about Africa, American History (the history they don't teach you in elementary) Linguistics, et cetera... he enjoyed it. :) He ended up taking on a minor to give him some shape to his degree to continue graduate studies in-- Linguistics.

Bingo! :smash:

I am not 100 percent sure on anything. Two years ago, I wanted to major in business and start my own music store. Last year, I wanted to work my way up at UPS into upper mangement. Now, who knows. I can tell you I plan on moving to Atlanta next year, and will study ASL at GPC. But for a career, I just don't know. I think right now, something with teaching is looking fun (especially History (and yes the kind they don't teach you in elementary school)). :dunno:

For now, I'm a liberal artist.

Break for me

After 18 (not a typo) semesters at a community college, I'm taking a break from school myself. It's only the second semester in ten years that I haven't had classes. I may go back to school once I get moved and settled. Classes never bothered me. It's the constant juggling of work, school, and sleep that gets to be a royal pain.

Good luck with classes everyone. If I can do it, so can you. :)

i will be a senior at my high school. Thank God, only 9.5 months left! i hate high school :(

Hang in there champ. After high school, I was practically worry free. College is a lot more fun and convenient then high school. Just keep working hard.

So I go to my English Comp 1 class, today, and my professor asked me to sit in the Honors class for the day to see if I'd be interested in taking it over standard.

Yea, I agree with him here.. I'm glad I'm out of HS and college is totally different, you can pick any classes u want, and more freedom, get involved with campus life, and you will meet new people and they are not like HS unless people who went to HS with you go to same college like some of my old classmates go to my college. I love my college experince, and I have been active with my job on campus- student senate/legislative director and I am very active with campus democrat club... My classes started last week, and I'm taking 3 classes this fall semester..

im going to sinclair college in ohio majoring webdesign and if i like it i will want more deep classes on it... im starting on sept 6th it will be my first time going to school in 5 years so i might be a bit rusty so wish me good luck :-P (this year classes are mostly basic classes which was required to take like math and english etc)

18 Semesters!? :-o

What are you going for?

Assoc Degree in ASL with terp major. Changed it to Deaf Support (Advocate). Worked about 30 hrs/wk and only took 2-3 classes a semester. Also repeated ASL classes to understand more. Did that because didn't have time to go out and socialize with Deaf.

Then heard that TX and national standards were being changed. By 2010-12 all cert interpreters will need 4 yr degree. Too much school for me.

I know that college is different from high school, however I ALSO HAVE a physical disability, which is the biggest challenge when I go to college. I hope I will get accepted by NTID and I don't know if they will modify my college-level work required by my current IEP since the medical document states that I can't do too much work due to my left neck and if I did too much, my body would stop working for a few months.
Last year, I was very overwhelmed by high school projects and my brothers said that I need more fun and too much work is very :nono: bad for my health and I deserve to have more fun and have a typical life, just like everyone else.

There's a reason they say too much work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. If you're overwhelmed, take some needed rest. Its always good to get much needed time away.
