Thanksgiving Day

My mom injects coca cola on the turkey, do any of you do that?

That is.... one of the weirdest things I've ever heard of being injected into a turkey.... Now going to knock it till I try it.... but I'm not exactly in a rush to go make it either.... Definitely..... different.... that's for sure...

It does come out pretty good. She injects one can of coke, some butter thing with idk how much stuff and this pink wine...idk the brand name maybe I can ask her later. I knows he puts some toehr stuff but those are the once she injects into the turkey

Definitely the first time I've heard of it. I never knock anything until I try it... Unless it's just incredibly clearly not okay.... Like insects... or poo steaks or something....

This is what I'm talking about when saying poop burgers. There's a thread on it somewhere, but I just inserted the link so you could feel apart of the disgusting thing that is poop meat... :laugh2: Japanese Scientists Create Meat From Poop | Fox News

Anything ( including the coke in Turkey ) is better than that... I could see where cola injection might taste okay I suppose. It's sweet, but it would mostly evaporate leaving a slightly sweet taste behind. :dunno2:

Is there ham option for some of you?

I'm not a huge fan of red meat personally. :P My family will make one, but I'll stick to turkey with some gravy. :P Only the white meat too, not a fan of dark meat either.... unless it's the drummies on chicken wings!!! :D

It would have to be a kosher ham as it's Chanukah too .
My dad was a big tease and would tell our next door neighbor child that he was cooking a Kosher ham for Easter . The poor kid would believe dad and go tell her parents my dad was cooking a kosher ham .

When my family was still huge on the get togethers, before my Grandma passed, We had gigantic gatherings for the holidays. There would be Ham, Turkey, Duck, Lamb, Cornish hens, tons of pies, veggies, even seafood.

Had a great Thanksgiving party last night with my friends, my brother, and his wife. We played several ASL games and two of my friends fell backwards in their chairs. It was hilarious.

My husband cooked two turkeys (deep fried), stuffing, various veggies, homemade cranberry sauce, homemade bread, and I made green bean casserole. My friends brought dessert or snacks. Great food!

Today, going to my brother's in-laws and then to my brother's for a Ravens football party and hot tub fun.

This is turning out to be a great Thanksgiving holiday. :) I feel very blessed.

We deep fry the turkeys.

You guys must be experienced at this and have a safe way of doing it......I've been putting off taking the risk.

I cooked the innards as I waited, made a great snack. The heart, Liver turned out awesome, the gizzards, well, they are just gizzards.
The bird was juicy,, the gravy was just right, the stuffing was fluffy, smashed taters were creamy.... My famous green bean casterole tasted awesome as usual!!!!

Ham is pork and pork is considered a white meat. Did you miss the big "Other White Meat" campaign that was on TV and a lot of other places?
