HOUSTON - A Texas high school teacher is accused of carrying 53 pounds of marijuana in her car as she traveled on Interstate 10 in Louisiana, CBS affiliate KYTX reported.

Percy Melton, a teacher at Elsik High School, was arrested and taken to the Calcasieu Correctional Center. According to the station, deputies said that Melton was transporting $120,000 worth of marijuana. She has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Department, Melton was acting suspicious after being pulled over Tuesday morning and wouldn't allow deputies to search her vehicle. A police dog alerted the officers to the drugs inside the car, and a search revealed two duffel bags full of marijuana, according to the department.

Melton is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, said an Alief Independant School District spokeswoman.

She was a drug dealer. Obviously she was selling weed to high school students.

It reminds me of one female Filipino supervisor getting busted for selling cocaine at my workplace about 10 years ago. Some employees who bought it from her also got busted.

Smoking that stuff isn't as glamorous as they want you to think
I had friends who ended up with memory lapses and bad hygiene habits, not to mention immature behavior from one date. Aside from being a pain reliever, I'm not sold on it's recreational use. I drop anyone on it like a sack of bricks. I'm a medical transcriptionist, so i have seen people seek assistance for symptoms associated with it's use, especially from mixing it with drugs and alcohol. Hint: Liver damage is irreversible.

Yes there is consequences for every action. I have never tried it, the smell alone makes me want to puke...
As for medical use, I do believe there are very valid uses for it. however we should make it a controlled Rx drug that is dispensed by a Physicans Rx and obtained as would any other medicine from a pharmacy. If there are physicans willing to sign off on these weed cards now then then should be just as willing to write an Rx for it.
This way we can get rid of the 80-90% of recreational users buying it from the local Weedgreens pharmacy
However I think it will get legalized like alcohol and taxed up the wazoo as government has an amazing way of abandoning their morals (oh wait, they don't have any in the first place) when it comes to making money,
