Texas May Raise Speed Limit to 85 MPH?

Again with the details....

Some areas of Texas already have speed limits above 75mph. Why is this a shocker?

I don't think anybody's shocked in here. I'm actually surprised that this news was well-received in this thread.... unlike other thread.

A Ford Mondeo is like the Ford Contour or the Mercury Mystique.

authentic - answer is:

Acura - coming soon in 2011
Audi A3
Audi Q7
BMW 335 and X5
Benz ML350, GL350, R350
VW Jetta, Golf, Touareg

What about Subaru? I heard rumors about Subaru bringing the diesel version to the states. It's been in Europe since 2008 or so.

I doubt they will raise the speed limits all over Texas. I'm pretty sure it's in West Texas which is at 80 mph altho most of Texas is 75 mph on interstates in rural areas but 65 mph at night time.

it's either here or it isn't. right now.... so it's not available in America.

Yea the legacy diesel gets impressive 45 mpg in Europe. Not bad for a car that size.

I've got to learn to shoot at faster speeds?

Jeep Liberty does have 4 cylinder Diesel engine as an option.

I would love to drive 85mph and is faster on nice day. But not on rainy, icy, or snowy day. Its a nono. I hope they post yellow speed limit sign for bad weather driving.

Im sure Texan would whirl their 10 gallon hat thru window and scream Yupppeeee while going 85 mph.

Lol
Catty

hee hee hee- I would too!

Diesel fuel price is bit expensive than gas (petrol).

not true- diesel at one time was cheaper then gas for a long time till gas shot up to 3.50 and higher and diesel prices never came down. Kinda a downer.... :aw:

I remembered that diesel fuel price was cheaper than gasoline in several years ago.
Why is diesel fuel higher priced than gasoline?

because EPA forced us to switch to ultra low sulfur now. cost more to make.

The ultra low sulfur improved the emission and improved mpg. Don't forget about biodiesel since it's cheap.

The diesel is not available as gasoline for gas station in USA. That's another reason why gasoline is cheaper than diesel.

Nothing to wrong with diesel since it's long last for engine like 500k to 1mil engine life unlike gasoline engine.

In europe, there is almost 70% of diesel. I dunno how much % in USA. Anyone care to give me a info?

Diesel fuel is cheaper price than gasoline at some countries in Europe. Better gas mileage.

See lists of gas and diesel prices around the world.

That's right and I knew about Europe since I was there few times before but again, I like to know how much % of diesel in USA.

no percentages- but I can tell you percentage of large trucks, equipment:D. Ok I am not going there..

For cars, I'd have to venture a guess of 15 % or less for US. There are diesel cars, but they are the more expensive brands. :aw:

If you live in Europe then they are pretty afford to buy a diesel cars. I wish USA get more diesel brand cars.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the reason why we don't have as much diesel cars as Europeans do is because this country is a very widespread open-spaced area... which is inefficient and not economical.

This. Europe has been a civilized area for a long, long time. Where they are in terms of their industrialization and where we are in ours are two different things. We may never be as dieselized as the Europeans due to rising fossil fuel costs.

Maybe you are right.

All I can say GREAT none of my fleet can do that 85 mph expect 99 F250 superduty.

I have diesel F250 but it already 2700 rpm at 70 mph. 85 mph would have me near 3000-3100 that hurt engine.

And I don't care about diesel cost anymore cause I am run on free used oil:D
