A 16-year-old Sydney girl will reportedly become the first NSW child to try to legally divorce her mother after a childhood of abuse.
A solicitor acting for the girl, identified only as Kaye, said papers were being drawn up on the grounds of an "irreconcilable breakdown in the relationship", The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported.
The action will be lodged in the Federal Magistrates Court within a month.
Kaye claims that at the age of 10 her mother gave her to family friend in the Hunter Valley who sexually abused her.
After receiving a small sum of money, her mother continued to sell her, forcing her daughter to go with a number of men, including one who abused her up to 60 times over two years.
Kaye said she was forced to divorce her mother after the system failed her.
"I want it made known what she did to me," she told the Telegraph.
"She's out there scot-free and I'm just sick and tired of the hurt. I want justice."
Despite reporting her plight to police, the Child Protection Enforcement Agency and Department of Community Services in October 2002, no-one was arrested due to insufficient evidence.

I wish it was possible to divorce kids from parents when the parents wanted it due to abuse of trust and emotional back stabbing.

But then again, you know, my mother's no piece of cake. So this looks pretty cool...LOL...but ah, her reasons for doing what she did are legit in my book!
