Teen arrested for bringing gun to school
Miami News, Fort Lauderdale News, Florida News & Weather Channel 7 Fox Miami WSVN-TV - Teen arrested for bringing gun to school

PINECREST, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police have arrested a teenager for bringing a handgun to school.

Ten years to the day of the infamous Columbine High School shooting, Miami-Dade Schools police were not taking chances when they took 19-year-old Marcus Toney out of Palmetto Senior High School in handcuffs.

According to Miami-Dade Schools Police, between 9:30 and 10 a.m. Monday, a fellow student went to an assistant principal and said Toney had brought a gun to the school.

Police reported to the school, located at 7460 SW 118th St., took the student to the administration office and searched his book bag where they found the loaded weapon. The gun was confiscated, and then the student was arrested.

The suspect's father, Clayton Toney, said he did not even know his son-- who he said aspired to join the Army-- knew how to obtain a gun. "I have no idea," he said speaking from behind his home's front door. "I am just as surprised as you are."

Miami-Dade Schools Police said the student will be charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds, a third degree felony, which could see him sent to prison for as much as five years. He was transported to Turner Guildford Knight Correctional Center.

Police said the student did not make any threats to any other students or displayed the firearm, but he also would not tell police why he brought the gun to school.

that crazy!

At least they all got there in time to stop him before anything gets worse. All their lives are saved for sure.
