I know it is forbidden for anyone to bring gun to school but the paperweight?? :dunno: I wonder about that...
I wondered that myself.

The article said it was an adult education class, so maybe it wasn''t actually held in a school building. :dunno:

I hadn't noticed that too either. I thought it was at a real school. I find out it is at an adult education center as the article said. I am sure adult education classes are in the age range of 18-25 with some more older adults in attendance too to get job training certificates for a better paying job. In a way, it is still good news no one else got hurt and I guess the teacher learned a very big lesson and one he won't soon forget. Can't say I blame him.

...And Reba...on a somewhat related topic ;) An officer I work with told me about an officer that was with our department (unfortunately killed in the line of duty a couple of years ago) that he was in our parking lot and had cleared his weapon for inspection. He dropped a 9mm round on the ground and apparently it landed just right and it fired. Have you ever heard of something like this happening? I'm generally careful with my ammo, but will admit to dropping a round or two and was never too concerned about that round going off.
I've neard hear of that happening, but I'm not going to say it can't happen under the right circumstances. Freak accidents do happen.

A 9mm round is not very heavy, so I'm thinking that dropped from the height of a person's hand, it wouldn't have gained much velocity before it hit the ground. Also, the center of the rim would have to directly strike something like a piece of concrete or a pebble to fire it. That is just my amateur conjecture.
