Well, not sure....i think its the name of the engine in Dodge Ram pickups?
:dunno: well, anybody know?

The HEMI is Chrysler's V8 motor. Since the 1950's, there has been several iterstions of the HEMI engine in many Mopar models.

The most fabulous HEMI motor IMO has to be the 426 HEMI that has been sitting in the engine bay of Chargers, 'Cudas, Challengers from 1964 to 1971. Those puppies made a total of power equal to 425 horses. Nowadays these cars with the HEMI engines are worth over $50,000 to.... *gasp* $1 million for a rare 1971 Hemicuda convertible.

Chrysler brought the HEMI back as a smaller, more efficent but powerful engine for the new Dodge Ram trucks in 2002. Now these new HEMI's are getting soo popular that I think about 60 to 75% of the new Dodge trucks have the HEMI. This coming 2005, expect the HEMI engine to appear in the Dodge Magnum wagon, Chrysler 300C 4 door, Dodge Durango SUV and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

This is what the new Mopar HEMI looks like:

Hahahaa. i think i get it. a hemi is what makes a car go zooooooooooooooooom?

Oh that looks better than the previous ones - especially an oil filter that I like the most because it is in the front that we can replace it easily.

I hate to say that Chryster has very poor design in gas saver. It has not been changed for years.

I would really love to buy an electric truck with a small gas tank for a backup. That's good enough for me not to worry about gas price rip-offs, changing the oils, motor problems, labor costs, etc. Obiviously, the electric car's batteries are too costly. I am sure that the prices for replacing batteries will be reduced someday as long as the auto-makers are selling electric autos in our country.

An electric car is much faster and much quieter than the dirty - leaking - oil - loud motor - Don't you remember we were kids playing toy battery cars and make them go really fast? This will come out in one day for us to buy a powerful electric-vehicle. Make sure that we don't hit any small animals on the road because hearing animals are not aware of quiet motors. Oh brother!

Well the HEMI that comes with the Chrysler 300C and Dodge Magnum R/T has a special fuel-saving device that works in a weird way:

Mopar calls it the MDS (Multi-Displacement System). It means that the computer manipulates the camshaft, valvetrain and fuel-injection to enable the engine to run on either V-4 or V-8 depending on how the gas pedal is floored.

Ya wanna electric car with a gas tank ......Here is something for ya http://www.toyota.com/prius

yes the hemi engines goes way back in old days and it is simple design that make so much power due to location of sparkplugs that goes top of combustion chambers. unlike of other designs that has those spark plugs that sit sideway of combustion chambers. the spark plug that sit top of cyl that can burn the whole fuel and burn whole not partly burn fuel like other design with sideways so it so called hemi lol..

HEMI!!!!!!!!!!!! those guys who explained what a hemi is right. idk anything about the history but the way of powerness of the hemi they're right. i would like my son's first word to be Hemi lol. speakin of hemi..what u guys think of that Magnum hemi? i think they look bad ass. i mean the only thing i dont like about it....that its a station wagon. ugh :barf:

I wonder if there's gonna be a HEMI Hybrid vehicles???

Ma Mopar, I hear is working on a hybrid TRUCK using either the HEMI or the Cummins Turbo Diesel.

Actually there is a "Half-Hybrid" built in the HEMI: Look for my post above that explains the HEMI's "MDS" system that goes from V-8 to 4 cylinder and back like the 1981 Cadillac V8-6-4 engine.

Go over to DaimlerChrysler's HEMI site http://www.hemi.com and click on "New HEMI engine"

I would buy a R/T Magnum, but I want to wait until there are real world 100,000 mile HEMI-MDS engines show that they are really dependable instead of in the repair shop. So I'm settling on a SXT Magnum for now when it comes to trade-in time for my car.

HEMI = Hemspherical combustion chamber, different than common combustion chamber.

new ones are smaller than the old ones.

The government needs to outlaw anymore future SUVs or put a some sort taxes on all SUVs and give tax breaks to buyers who but a small to mide size car weighs less than 5000 LBS.
