"For a growing number of students, the easiest way to make a couple hundred dollars has nothing to do with chores or after-school jobs, and everything to do with informing on classmates.
Tragedies like last month's deadly shooting at a Red Lake, Minn.school have prompted more schools to offer cash and other prizes--including pizza and premium parking spots--to students who report classmates who carry guns, drugs or alcohol, commit vandalism or otherwise break school rules..."

Hmmmm, what do you think? Is this a good idea, to train our children to be snitches as a way to be fine, upstanding citizens in the future, or is this too Soviet for your tastes?
Sighhhh, what a world we live in.

Your right.....they should be snitches for free...

I would hope that if somebody had information about a schoolmate that had plans to bring a firearm to school and gun down other students, that student would do the right thing and come forward with that information.

I somewhat disagree with the program, It shows that money can be given as people not using their Instinet to know what's right or wrong what their friends, or others are doing, like she/he is drinking on the school property or doing drugs, nor carrying weapons to school. I would rather to see them report on them by trusting their instinet, than using it for a prize. Because that shows they don't care about others, What they are doing to themselves, their health, or putting others in dangerous of the school shooting and etc.

But, on another hand there are some spoil peers out there would do it for the award.

What about tattling on false rumors? That'll really hurt the innocent kids. I don't think it is a bright idea to reward them $$$.

true.. good point!!

the way it works...is they have to have PROOF that its true.

such as if you tell that they had a gun in their backpack and then they apprehend that kid and nothing is there, then the kid who made the rumor would get in serious trouble.

therefore a false rumor is not really possible.

the biggest flaw is i would buy 10 dollar packets of weed and stick it in people's backpack then tell on them and get more money than the weed cost and do it over and over until i have a ferrari :thumb:

Bad bad bad idea!!! It would encourage them to frame somebody. For example, if one wants free money, he or she could plant gun in somebody's bag and report to supervisors, Viola, money is earned and that innocent gets punished.

I totally agree I think it's a bad idea too....

Any child could lie, and frame another child, and they get money or any type of reward in return, doesn't sound right to me, it should be free, so it can teach children to be honest and do the right thing....

Guess thay'll find out what happens to snitches in real life.

Um, yes it is. Capitalism = profit. Think about it.

Actually, it is a joke and apparently that someone failed to notice.

Profit happens in every kind of social!!! Even socialism, communist, dictarship etc still make profit regardless. So therefore it has nothing to do with rewarding kids with money or whatever.

Clarification on defination of capitalism is what? Freedom of enterprises, In other words... your free to run any kind of business. It does not mean freedom to bribe, or reward! Bribing is OFTEN ILLEGAL in the United States!!! So what's wrong with our Government????

US gov't isn't alone in that. It happens everywhere, but having school bribing student and have them framing other student isn't JUSTIFICABLE!!! It teaches kids that it is alrighty to sell stories regardless if it is true or not. Thats my whole point. Where is value in whats right and wrong? Your gonna put price tag on whats right or wrong?

"Bribing" is huge, huge drive machine in governments.

Well, I didn't say that America government is alone in that case. But yeah, I agree with you that it surely isn't justifiable.

Thanks. It is sad how we society thinks the way we should raise kids. It is really out of control. Nobody teaches values nowadays like it used to be back in 60's or earlier. Blame on educator for screwing everything up, they know everything, and rely only professional opinion and ignore parents experiences.
