Hypocrisy means an act of having double standards; an deceptive practice of not practicing what you preach.
For instance, I would be a hypocrite if:
Ex. I call you a slut and call you wrong for being one, but I sleep with a lot of men as well.
Ex. I tell you to get out of the kitchen if you can't stand the heat, but I still run away when I get some heat in return. (ie. dishing out what I can't handle in return, when I tell you to get lost if you can't handle the heat)
Ex. I tell you I am a Christian, but I am not very forgiving or accepting of others. The biblical Jesus Christ practiced unconditional love. This might be debatable, depending on which biblical versions you are following. To be fair, if I am a Buddhist supposed to work on inner peace & have a sense of serenity, yet I contribute to drama still and don't manage my anger very well.
Ex. I am pro-life yet I kill doctors who perform abortion. I'm supposed to promote preservation of life, yet I kill??
Ex. I scream "favoritism!" (for instance, the moderator rules in others' favor and delete my replies) when I don't exactly do that if somebody gives me the preferrial treatment (the moderator does the same thing, except to the other person).
I am sure you can find a lot of examples everywhere.
It is very easy to be a hypocrite, but it's not the end of the world. We're all work in progress.
