This is VERY True! Even with repair cost yes very cheap.

Yep, that's why automatic is uncommon in buses, cars, vans etc in Costa Rica which my friend told me about that. They generally can't afford the luxury of the automatic trans.

Use Dexon III or other ATF brand will cause Honda poor shifting quailty and also ruin friction clutches. We use Honda ATF to service Hondas. Did you know that to check ATF level on the dipstick is warmed up engine then shut engine off for few minutes then check ATF level that apply to all Hondas?
Ford manual transmissions (early Ranger or Mustang) use ATF. Some manual trannies use motor oil. Most manual trannies use gear oil.

yes, of course I knew that. :) All of my Hondas I used to have with manual transmission use 10w30 engine oil and have it changed every 30k miles or so. :)

I dont know cuz I didnt read about the latest DTC or CVT cuz they are too complicate to me. I feel like I dont want to hear them cuz Im an emission specialist and will study them later.

CVT sucks. It's got break so easy and not great for high torque but very smooth and low rpms at uphill unlike auto transmission.

DCT is improved fuel economy because power flow from the engine to the transmission is not interrupted, fuel efficiency increases dramatically. Some experts say that a six-speed DCT can deliver up to a 10 percent increase in relative fuel efficiency when compared to a conventional five-speed auto transmission.

Tiptronic sounds like an interesting idea. Too bad a Porsche is out of my budget.
I saw a newer Acura w/ shift paddles on the steering wheel like F1 cars and shifter on the console. If you play with shift paddle, just shift to manual mode. Tire of shift paddle? Just shift to auto mode. Cool. I see more newer vehicles are equip with semi automatic trannies. Happen to me one time was I took a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 for a road test (after oil/filter changed), noticed the engine went crazy as scream. I was innocent, didnt do anything with the car, dont understand why but I saw a tachometer on the dash, was rev up 6K rpm. Realized the tranny was on manual mode. OOOps, I shifted to auto mode.
The Jeep was fine, whew. Next time I see semi automatic, pay attention on the auto/maual modes.

I heard the stories of the CVT problems

2008? eek.

First time I drove mom's 2000 BMW 528i with shift auto in ten years ago.

I teach my wife how to use semi-auto when she got new car.

Spec:
Engine: 2.5L I-5 170hp
Transmission: DTC
Safely: ETC

Guess what kind vehicle it is?

I-5? could be Volvo S40 or something with V70? Im not sure that a 2.5L is non turbo and other 2.3L I-5 is turbocharger I think. DTC? I know nothing cuz I was behinding the newer automobile technology.
I-5 engines w/o ETC can be found on Acura Virgo, Audi and Volvo

Tiptronic sounds like an interesting idea. Too bad a Porsche is out of my budget.

Hey, I serviced oil/filter change on a 2007 Lexus IS 250 today at the gas station, saw shifting paddles on the steering wheel and shifter stick on the console, upshift is right side paddle and downshift on left side paddle of the steering wheel. Nice view of a monitor (navigation screen), see the rear view on the screen when you select reverse position. Good for injured neck.
Engine? I saw a 2.5l V6 not In-line 6. Sad. I look around the engine compartment to see what it looks like. I notice one thing absence is no power steering reservior, though. Then lifted the car to drained oil from the engine. I spot a bolt in the front knuckle/ hub, was missing. I doesnt want to molest it.
I see no power steering pump in front of the engine, though. Everything looks ok execpt bolt
I wish I take it for drive test but the customer was in a lounge to waiting her car. Dang

I think it has electric power steering. No hydraulic pump.
