I am so pissed
There is a BAD spyware stuck in my computer called "Sqwire" and it has its own folder snuggling in my program files and create its own toolbar onto the internet browser. I do have AD_AWARE and SPYBOT to clean it out but both failed because Sqwire combated against the spy-clean programs' attempts to remove it....

Anybody know anything about this evil horrible spyware and remove it?? Because it is creating a LOT more of annoying pop-up ads in websites that don't normally have pop-up ads (LIKE THIS WEBSITE, ALLDEAF.COM) So...

HELP????

:fu2: @ SQWIRE

Save the log once you run the program and then post the log here.

I'll tell you what to get rid of.

Hey gnarlygirly have you been using Kaaza (music program) ? Because if you do Kaaza is famous for leaving spywares in the computer which create so much problems. Ugh! Hope you'll get this one out soon.

Oh no, I am not a member of any music program like Kaaza! (TOTALLY deaf here, lol)

THe only thing I could point the blame is to my brother. He continually downloaded stuff from his email et cetera, unaware of the risks.

OKay I am hoping I am trusting you well, ZONE-5 since you are a brand new member...

Should I just defrag my computer? would it help a lot?
I have run my Norton, Spybot, ad-aware and everything in sight to get it out.. I have found information about manually removing the program over at www.pestcontrol.com/pestinfo/x/xupiter.asp#Overview

Is it a good idea to remove it by myself? I am worried that if I remove it then I find an uninstall program and then I am stuck with that because it cannot uninstall if the files go missing.

:dunno:

How do I reboot to a safe mode?
I am using Windows XP so eek... I am still new to this verison.

If I was using Windows 98, i wouldn't ask you this :-D

Thank you, I have deleted the list that you recommended but I haven't manually removed the remaining due to my... uneducated skill of rebooting to a safe mode ;)

Use the F8 method

1. Start Windows, or if it is running, Restart the computer.

2. The computer begins processing a set of instructions known as the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS). What is displayed depends on the BIOS manufacturer. Some computers display a progress bar that refers to the word BIOS, while others may not display any indication that this process is happening.

3. As soon as the BIOS has finished loading, begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. Continue to do so until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.

4. Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, scroll to and select the Safe Mode menu item, and then press Enter.

Delete the following:

Folder C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate
Folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\pcs\

And what the hell is WAST? I am seeing new folder..."skip link anti"...."Loud Sixth Download"... I dont want to remove it if it is acutall yPART of my computer.. but the name of the folder is TOO suspicious... I don't find any "uninstaller" in those folders.

ZONE, Be my knight in a binary armor and save my distressed computer~!

One problem I see is AdRoar.dll that is a Toolbar. It is tricky to remove. I'll post some instructions.

See if this works:

Uninstall procedure
Uninstall AdRoar from "Add/Remove Programs" in the Windows® Control Panel. Look for an entry called 'CPR' or 'AdRoar'.

If it doesn't I'll post a manual procedure

Do you use the Google Tool Bar? You have to be more careful on what you download. Don't download free programs from the internet unless you really need them. I noticed ARUpdate.exe was not in your previous log and now it is in your new log. Watch what your brother downloads.

Delete ththis using Hijack:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://allaboutsearching.com/passth...p://about:blank

Try this program because you have a lot of new stuff:

Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner

"skip link anti" and "Loud Sixth Download" are not part of your system. Delete Them. I don't know what WAST is but I know it is not part of the Operating System. See if SpyBot Search & Destroy v1.2 gets rid of it.

Okay [deleting those folders with strange names]

And there is no Adroar or anything in the add/remove program so please do post the instructions.

Thank a millions.. it has improved a lot lately.

Although the allsearching toolbar is still stuck in the browser. I can close it but it automatically open every time I sign on the internet so.. :-/

I did google up for allsearching removal and I couldn't find anything. oh well.

again- THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Hey—thanks, man. I took all your advice, got all the stuff you recommended, and gave my PC an enema royale. It’s purring like a kitten now. Learned a lot, too. :thumb:

So, who was that masked man? What brings you here? Are you d/Deaf or hearing?
