Spin-off from mainstreaming thread

I had pullouts in elementary school and up until today I didn't think it was a problem. But looking back on it now, I'm sure they didn't help my not fitting in with my peers. :shock::hmm:

I was pulled out for gifted/talented, speech therapy, and French. I know I went to French during reading because I was so far ahead. I will assume I was also pulled out of reading to work with the SLP or for gifted/talented.

I didn't fit in well at school. I never thought about the ramifications of being taken out of class. I wonder if my parents ever considered it.

It's certainly on my mind for William!
 
This isn't true at our state school for the Deaf. Speech has to be pull out since spoken language isn't allowed in the classroom. Plus, less than half the kids even did speech, so it wasn't part of class at all.
Good point. But what I meant is that even if kids at specialized schools get pull out services, they don't generally have a ton of schduling issues. It can be easier to intergrate special/needed services.
