Toddler found after 24 hours in woods
Sunday, December 18, 2011

SPARTANBURG -- A 21-month-old Spartanburg County boy was reunited with his family Saturday after being lost for more than a day in woods near his home and spending a rainy night outdoors as temperatures dropped into the low 40s.

Jason Burton was described as being in good condition.

About 200 people searched for the boy from the time he disappeared from his home early Friday afternoon, Spartanburg County deputies said.

A deputy and a state natural resources officer kayaking on the Tyger River about two miles upstream from the boy's home spotted Jason sleeping on a log beneath an embankment, Sheriff Chuck Wright said.

He's not even two years old! Wow!

Me, too. He could have easily died of exposure, drowned, or had a gator get him. It's a miracle that he survived and that the guys in the kayak spotted him in time.

It is amazing. Since toddlers tend to get into things that can cause great harm.

Ok.. Now the boy is found safe and sound. How did he come about to wander off 2 miles from home?? Who was watching him??

The mother said that he probably got out while she was in the bathroom.

And that's why we parents grey earlier!

Good news that the boy is safe and sound.
