They told me that they are Atheists.

Anyway...

Stem Cell Research is so wrong...
Killing embryo and then slice them in half and watch the cell
grow and then put those tissue in our bodies.

I know that I will live a long long time til I am 70 years old or somthing...
Because I obey traffic law most of the time. And I eat right.

And I am an organ donor, and I don't want to donate my kidney
or part of my liver or heart to smokers... because that isn't right at all.

I am hoping that the doctor would donate my organs to innocent children
or people who live healthy or born with missing organs.

I was almost upset when that man who was chewing tobacco
all of his life and then his jaw was removed and then they
used Stem Cell to reconstruct his face...
But they didn't use embryo, whew...

Anyway....

I believe Moses and Abraham create these laws in the Bible...
to control their people...
Because they didn't really have government or police in their
tribes.

So they had to scare them in someway...

And maybe Moses and Abraham saw a person killed somebody
and then killed himself...

So they probably said there is HELL.... and that other people
won't kill himself or somebody because fear of going to hell.

That what I think.

Miss P - Please becareful yourself. Your mind is really screwed up. You need to think about the balance between good and bad ones.

You said that stem cell is so bad idea.

It is the only way for the scientists to work on the research and make people's life better. Would you rather to hear without hearing aids and CI? It would be nice for you to listen to somebody or your family without looking at them. I bet that you will ever love to hear some music than anything else in your lifetime.

I support many lab researchers to continue their work.

One thing that I am strongly against the companies to use the experiment on animals at a lab. The companies want to see how much damage on the animals with their new products like soaps, shampoos, other kind of foods which cause allergies, poison-testing how long they last live, etc. It is whole different between experiement testing-damages and experment implants for improvement.

Again, the experment for stem cells is only positive way... It's strange that Bush really do not understand the whole story. Did you know that Nancy Regan and Elizabeth Ford (wifes of the U.S. Presidents) strongly support the stem cells? They wanted to get rid of her husband's Alhemizer's disease. If the stem cell research is accomplishment, it would have saved him alive.
Nancy cannot fight for it because she is too old to be in charge, but she could do is to voice out people to support her idea.
 
With stem-cell research, my question is, are there viable alternatives to embryonic stem cells? Adult stem cells, for instance, or placental stem cells? Can't these be researched too, and if proven successful, be used in place of the embryonic ones? The third idea is particularly intriguing because it would mean using something that until now has gone to waste.

This is a possible solution for us to get the benefits of stem-cell research without the ethical dilemma. Maybe it won't work out in practice, but shouldn't we give it a fair shot?
 
Well, there's one thing I don't like to see that they are playin' God.

Why fret about it at all? A 100 cell blastocyte is NOT a human being, despite any claims by the Religious Right to the contrary. It is an inanimate object—nothing more. Why is it immoral to destroy a blastocyte, but it is perfectly OK to keep a chimpanzee locked in a 6’ X 6’ X 6’ cage for its entire 50+ year life span, and subject it to repeated experimental surgical procedures, experimental vaccine injections, and repeated electric shocks to control its behavior? Chimpanzees are sentient beings—THEY ARE AWARE OF THEIR OWN EXISTENCE. A blastocyte is just a fucking ball of cells that is too small to even be seen by the unaided human eye. It’s not a human being! It doesn’t even have a nervous system! These religious wackos are holding all of us back for the sake of this pathetic little fantasy they have that they are going to get another life after they die. :roll:
 
I read here and in the news of other methods of getting stem cells.

Embryos that have died during test-tube baby attempts, cells taken from embryos without harming them or even recharged adult skin cells might provide alternatives to embryonic stem cells for research, White House ethics advisers said on Thursday.

Miss P, would you be fine with taking a cell or two from embryos using methods that won't harm them? Then maybe the embryo could still be used to make a kid, then we could show the kid the person and say that we used the 1 or 2 cells to grow the cell culture to treat the older person and tell the kid that they helped the person before they were even born. I guess that'd make them feel special. :mrgreen:

But why bother with the entire question when there are other methods that may be viable both scientifically and politically? It seems to me that to use other sources is the best way to get the research moving forward so that more lives can be changed for the better.

BTW, I don't care for animal experimentation either--I think it's disgusting.

And finally, I would thank you not to treat religious believers as untermenschen. And yes, I know what that word means and all of the connotations it carries.

It is a big problem. I don't like the idea for a lab employee to give an animal a small damage for the experiment, and then inject something on it to see if the medicine heals the damage. They SHOULD HAVE FOCUSED on "handicapped animals" in the first place in order to heal them, not to damage them on purpose. It's like their job is to "seek and kill" them. Another issue, some labs do something on them which are completely not necessary especially werid and stupid like glowing shelfish gene on mice. Now that is one MAJOR reason why my parents and I aren't Christian and don't attend church or anything......we cannot stand the holier-then-thou attitude that a lot of believers have. I mean......we are NOT evil.....Just b/c you don't subscribe to a particualr regligious belief,it doesn't mean you're going to hell. Atheiests can be good kind loving people......and you know, I believe that if someone has known God in their day to day life....there is NO reason to have to accept a particualar way of thinking. I believe that if someone is a good person, and who knows love (which is the essense of God) then they are definitly going to Heaven.

Nobody can't live forever...

dd--Not all Christians feel the way that you describe...please don't forget that. I'm very sorry that you and your family had such unpleasant run-ins with Christians. I have, too--and I am Christian myself. I dunno if you noticed the C.S. Lewis quote I posted, about Christians and atheists? From the looks of it, he, you, and I are in pretty close agreement.

This has gotten me into very hot water with fundamentalists, but to me it is the only way to reconcile the idea that God is both perfectly just AND perfectly merciful. Ultimately I don't know how He makes His judgments...but this is the best extrapolation I can come up with off of my limited understanding.
 
Yes I am a Christian.

Well I thought I was very very very ugly and I wanted to hide

I was so mad when Social Security reject me about 100 times...
I keep telling them that I am too ugly, nobody wants to hire

They don't need to just give SSI to people who can't work...
They need to give SSI to people who need financial support.

All I wanted to do is...
Get SSI, stay at home with mom, and just watch tv and be happy. :P

I just wish that there were more that PETA could do, but these labs operate within the confines of the law—a fact which in and of itself speaks volumes concerning our own worth as a species. This video is disturbing beyond words. So is the story of Booee.
