Driver's sneeze caused water bottle to lodge under brake

A sneeze sent a garbage truck barreling into a home in New Jersey on Tuesday.

According to police, the truck driver lost control of the vehicle and crossed several lawns before crashing into a home in East Hanover and bursting into flames, New York TV station WCBS reported.

The family inside the house made it out safely.

The truck driver was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

According to WCBS, the crash caused so much damage that the home had to be demolished.

The driver told police he sneezed before the accident, causing a water bottle to roll under the brake.

I believe it can happen. I get those sneezing fits myself. They can be very dangerous.

We had a case here were someone tipped one going around a corner, could have killed anyone on the side walk. *shakes head*

That must be a terrible brake job!! Even if a bottle fell under pedal, you would still push on pads. Maybe break the bottle, but what the heck!!

I hope that the driver is fired. That is pretty irresponsible!!

Fired? That's too extreme and those situation was accident.

this is really something like from Final Destination :Ohno:

Please don't jump on the gun. I think it is really an accident. I had dealt with bottle behind the pedal and I had to do it fast to get the bottle out so I can press the pedal, no way to press pedal with bottle behind.

I hate to have to have to sneeze while driving , I could have an accident .
It only take a split second to have an accident.

Yes, the sneeze is extremely common for me due to hay fever (seasonal allergies) so the medicine only work in some part and still suffer from symptoms. I know only one 100% worked is anti-inflammation steroid to suppress the immune system but cause nasty and uncomfortable side effects. :(
