I hope you dont mind me ask you question out of curiously.

My hubby as smoker and I as non-smoker do not like to have guest/visitor smoking in our house and in our car but outside of our garden.

It´s 1 year since my hubby quitted smoke. :thumb: (last April 2004).

There´re high % of Germans don´t like to have smoking in their places but outside whom they are smokers or non-smokers. They respect each other with no complication but in England is a different.

Some of Germans smoking in the kitchen or basement only.

I remember when I used to live one bedroom appartment in London before married and moved to live in Germany. My British friends are grumply and judge when I told them to not smoke in my apartment. I noticed that I receive smoke visitors less than non-smokers because they don´t like my rules for not accept smoking in my apartment in England but I am surprised that Germans are total different from British.

I told my British friends that I´m not doing for them but myself and my healthy and my house because I dont like smoking to color every walls and smelly.

What about you? Would you accept your friends smoking in your place? If yes, why?

I think it´s not okay to smoke in the house because it could affect family´s healthy and color on the walls.

Come and share your opinions here with us...?

My Dad quitted smoke in 1990
My Brother quitted smoke in 1987

They realized that their rooms are more clean and fresh after quit smoking.

I was raised in smoking family but I dont smoke. I would insist them to smoke outside on patio or porch. So many years has passed since i grew up at my parents house (parents are the smokers), as you notice most of years passed by with smoking in one room it can make the walls change colors actually it would be stains like if your room is white years later it will turn into yellow dull wall. So for smokers, suggest you keep update on your house if you smoke in house.

I quit smokin' last January 2004. I hate that smell all over me, especially my hair. It even helps to smell and taste better after quit smokin'.

So far after I quit smokin', my hair smells sooo fresh and clean ! I love that smell of fragrance on my hair. :thumb:

We won't let the guests to smoke in my house.

If they ask my permission, I would say "Ooooh the burglar pinch the last ashtray here, smoke outside please!"

I am a smoker, and I dont even smoke in my house. So it will be a cold frozen day in Hades before I let someone else do it. :cold:

I ain't let anyone smoking in my home! no way , i am afraid that they would damage my home if happened .. there no way i able sue them if it happened...

I grew up with my smoker family , i hate smelling smoke on my clothes, hair, etc... since i moved up here, i smell my own skin as fresh! ahh no more smoke around me! :D

I will tell them , go outside or on porch , smoking! if they dont like my ideas.. then TOO BAD!!!

No one is allowed to smoke in my house or car. When my mother-in-law used to visit, she had to smoke on the front porch or the back deck. She was the only smoker in the family. Now she doesn't smoke because she uses oxygen 24/7.

First of all, breathing smoke, even second-hand, is not healthy. Smoke really stinks up a house and everything in it. It also discolors the ceilings, walls, appliances, and furniture. After my MIL quit smoking, I gave her kitchen a real good cleaning. I honestly thought she had almond color appliances (stove, dishwasher, fridge). I was shocked! They were actually all white after I finished cleaning them!

My ex-smoker.. Glady I quit smoking when I was 20 during 1st preggy.. *cold turkey*

Not allowed smoking in my house period.. Rest of my friends/family must go outside smoking.. btw if you wanna smoking go outside if it's winter.. TOO BAD.. stay outside PERIOD.

Adopt family raised "no smoking"
Birth Family are smoking.. They are on struggle and goal quit smoking.

I visit my friend's place who smoking.. *restless patience* due sniffing odors smoking fumes all over the walls and furnitures *ugh* adsorbing on my clothes-smoking-odors. When We arrive home and straight bedroom undressed clothes and throw laundry hamper right away!! includes as same my kids must change their clothes. I gathering smoking odors clothes put into the washer right away! I couldn't stand smell.. *UGH*

Sorry forgive me.. am I rude being fuss.. dislike it feel. Hate being second-hand sniffing.

:thumb:, it´s same with me.

The weather in the winter is terrible cold like freezer and also snow, too in Germany. STAY outside is outside, no matter what good or bad weather.....

Nope, They can't smoke in house.
I got rid of all the ashtray... And threw them in the garbage...
cause I am tired of cleaning after smokers... they don't
clean after themselves...
And plus I am sick of smelling the ciggy... yuck... I had to spray
Lysol....

If they want to smoke, they go outside....
I won't put out table or chair for them to smoke...
they have to smoke standing up... and I don't care...

My Uncle was coughing and coughing... ewwwww
I was telling him to stop smoking, but he won't listen...
It was an awful coughing sound...

Few weeks ago... he went to Mexico... cause he own
a Condo there at an island near Mexico...
And he was having seizure...
So there were no doctor there on the island, so he
had to fly back home and go hospital...
And the doctor there told him that he got a spot in his lung
and also Pneumonia.

And I am PISSED off... it isn't fair for him to try to smoke
in my house and he would have giving everyone pneumonia
from 2nd hand smoke.

Good he should learn his lesson... and he still have pneumonia for 5 weeks :-o ...
I hope this time he stop smoking.

Sometimes getting rid of ashtrays is not enough. My MIL used to bring her own! We still made her smoke outside. :D

Second-hand smokers are one of the leading cause of highest death in the nation! That's why I do not permit anyone to smoke near me. Not only at my home, restaurants (especially at vegetarian) where I can enjoy dinning.

The worse smoking place to go in the building are bowling and casinos. That's why I don't go there anymore unless it is absolutely necessary.

Oh, Feisty! You bad!! :nono:

As for myself and my family, we are all non-smokers. I've never smoked, but my parents are former smokers. They both gave up the habit when I was 13. My Mother has since been diagnosed with chronic lung disease, so no one is allowed to smoke in the house. If a smoker comes over, we kindly ask them to step outside to smoke.

Second-hand smoke is really bad for babies. I recently heard on the news that if a pregnant woman smokes it not only effects her baby, it also effects her grandchildren! They did a study and found that the grandchildren of pregnant smokers are more likely to have asthma. The smoking effected the DNA of the babies in the womb. My MIL smoked while pregnant, and her grandson has asthma.

I know. That is why we like to take our family to the Navy base bowling alley. There is no smoking allowed in military buildings. :)

i vote not smoke in the house.. cuz of can yellow on white wall and can see brown and yellow from smoke... also my parents smoke in house.. when i get my own place and i wont let anyone smoke in here...

I don't allow smokers in my house, either. I rather to keep my house to remain clean and fresh. Don't want to see the walls to turn in yellow from smokin'. :)
