Lately I have been smelling things that I shouldn't be smelling....like sometimes I smell cat shit but the cat litter box is CLEAN...or I will smell pasta and think it is cooking in the microwave (I nuke all my food) and I walk to the kitchen but there is no pasta...things like that. Am I going nuts? LOL...it's been bothering me for some time...ugh.

Just wondering if this happens to others....
 
No, you're normal! (or we're BOTH nuts! :lol:) Because, the same thing happens to me. What this is, is olfactory hallucinations. (Thinking we smell things that we don't actually smell). I can tell you what it is, but I can't tell you why it happens. I wish I could!

Just know you're not the only one this has happened to. :)

It IS annoying! Especially, when you think you're smelling food!

It drives me crazy! :whistle:

Yeah, but it's at times when I hadn't even cooked pasta or eaten pasta at all...like I hadn't had pasta for a couple of days then today I suddenly smell cooked pasta....

Just a thought, but could this be just a strong craving for something (food wise)? Note that I make mention about the food. You, obviously, would NOT be craving cat "stuff". :lol:
 
you're not alone..
Sometimes I tend smell sumth'n coming from perfume and smoking sense.. but nobody around in my house while kids are gone bed.. Pretty quite little freaky time.. (chuckles)
Our family aren't smoker.. Pure clean.. strange odd smell coming from..? :dunno:
 
Yea it happened to me today. I went to walmart and I smelled something that smell like my foster dog. Boy I really do hate it. Maybe it was all your fault for making me to smell this stuff by posting this thread. HYAH!!! :giggle:
 
Did you know that if you eat or drink something that has a very strong odor right before you go to bed... the odor will be the only thing you smell for a short time when you wake up?

Lately, Im having problem with my toliet....After it is flushed, it still smells like shit! :barf: :barf: I still cant figure it out how to solve with it!
 
Next time, go outside and take a deep breathe of fresh air! That will help clear up the nasal sticking thingie that keep some odors in the olfactory area so long. :lol:

The olfactory system collects the smell from each source like a long-term memory. I was shocked to learn it in middle school and my mouth dropped to the floor. Eewwwww!!!! What's about the ammonia that smells like a cat urine? Yuck! Of course, we do hate those things that linger in our noses for a long time. So don't blame the olfactory system. ;)

It smells like shit? Open the windows to let the clean air in and poopoo air out. That does the trick. Sorry if you can't help it, still buy an air freshener spray and spray it every time after you use the toilet. ;)

Get Oust to spray in the bathroom, that is what I do when someone takes a shit in my bathroom.
 
I don't spray in the bathroom because of the chemicals in the spray bottle. It is better to have incense burning or herbs in a small jar to burn and gives off a natural smell. I think it is called potpouri ??? but it has to be natural potpouri and not chemical potpouri.
