Should Deaf Child area sign take down?

How do you feel if your parents put the sign for you. So, you would feel much safe instead have them teach you the value lesson by saying "WATCH OUT WHERE YOU GO!!!". Therefore, you could grow to be independence.

Should Deaf Child Area take down?
 
I remember when I was a kid. I would be embarrassed if my parents plan to put it there. But they did not bother to. My parents never treat me like im a disabled kid at all.
 
I think a sign is ok. Assuming motorists notice it, it would alert them that honking their horn probably won't do any good at getting the child's attention if the child is in danger of being hit by a car.

Yes, all children need to be taught to be aware of their surroundings and to not go into the street, etc.
 
With all the crazy people around today I am not sure I would want every drivers to know I had deaf child.

Signs are also put up for hearing children. children at play. Its a yellow or neon green sign with a child and ball?
 
i tend to agree....this is hearing world we fit in to it not visa versa
 
Feel it's a Catch 22......and I would never allow my kids play in the streets or cross the street if they were under 10 years old.....kids do need an open place to play, such as the Park.

All kids need to be taught at a very early age to "look both ways" before crossing any street....My son, (6 at the time) was prone to dart across the street without looking....so I always held his arm and hand...and if he crossed the street without my knowledge, he was punished.

As for the Deaf Child Playing Sign...it could also give information to Predators that a deaf child lived there....and they could take advantage of it....

I agree about it would give out information to Predators and would have second thought about putting a sign up. It's really horrible that we have to think of this but it's a reality .
 
The signs that I usually see (haven't seen too many though), are usually placed where it's not obvious which house the deaf child lives in, just that there is a deaf child in the vicinity.

You must be talking about an area with a lot more traffic than where I grew up and still live. About 65 years ago we neighborhood kids were going to each others homes etc. at 5. Today's traffic in most residential areas does not seem that much different than it was then.
 
I always thought it's funny if the sign still leave there and the predator didn't realize, it's adult, not child. Big mistake as the child hear and scream for help via mobile phone. lol

Just both bad and good thoughtful.

When I was a kid, which is more like 45 years ago, my parents were very aware of the possibility of predators, and wanted no signs around.

But they absolutely would not let me cross the street, or play in the street. I had to stay and walk on the yards.

Today an angry neighbor would probably shoot the child required to navigate the neighborhood in that way, but that was my childhood.

I think I might have been given more freedom if there had been a warning sign, but possibly not.
 
I never thought about it being a sign that predators would take advantage of. That's a really good point. It's sad that we live in a world like this.

I had not thought of this point either. I think I would prefer to teach my child to stay out of the street and not have a posted sign.
 
We had one. Me and my brothers defaced it and blamed a kid on our street that we didn't like.

Before you get tissed up and all... the reason we didn't like him was because he would pick on me to no end. I know it doesn't make it right but eh... he had it coming.
