Shooting reported at an Oregon high school

OMG this is like a daily occurrence!!! What is wrong with people????
 
I saw this on the news and did not know one student was killed . This is damn upsetting and a senseless violent crime. We have to take stronger actions to protect our kids . We can't keep sending kids to school with no protection. Damn autospell check , I type 'can't' it retype as 'came'

I felt that we need more psychologists at school, teachers need to take drilling, behavior and observant classes.

I d like to see almost every cops that needs to take training, in approaching any students in a soft way when they need to be at school. I felt that cops need to get better salary so lots of cops would be more moivation by working at school.

Total 73 people died in school shooting since December 14, 2012...

While there is over 114,000 people die in car accident alone in 2012.

I still see people yelled "BAN GUN!".

What specifically could they have done to prevent this?

Have cops stations at each school while people are trying figure a way to prevent another shooting from happening. We can't keep having our kids killed like sitting ducks while we come up the right answer. That is insane.
I am sure there are enough parents that know how to use a gun willing to take turns to protect their child while at school. I am really surprise this has not happen yet. Parents could also refuse to send their kids to a school that anyone Joe Blow with a gun can walk right in.

Didn't the Oregon school have two officers on duty?

I am sure there are enough parents that know how to use a gun willing to take turns to protect their child while at school. I am really surprise this has not happen yet.

One reason is the law. Most states don't allow anyone other than law officers to carry guns onto school property.

Parents could also refuse to send their kids to a school that anyone Joe Blow with a gun can walk right in.

The problem with that is, even with metal detectors and locked entrance doors (which are usually glass), any Joe Blow can come blasting thru those objects. Also, in our area a couple years ago, there was an attempted shooting on a school grounds but outside the building. The woman tried to shoot people at the children's bus stop and pick up/drop off area. That could also happen on playgrounds and sports' fields of schools.

I remember, a few years back, there was another school shooting where the student pulled the fire alarm in the school building. Then, when the kids evacuated outside, he could shoot them.

Logistically, a truly safe environment that could cover every contingency is difficult to set up. :(

I know the law only allow policeman to be station at schools, I agree there is no fool prove way to stop the killing , it just so horrible that this keep happening that you can't help but want to think of way to stop it. Something has to be done and there is not one really good answer . There are people that have mental illness and they never go for help and no one has come with away to tell what a person it thinking . I remember that about the kid that planning on pulling a fire alarm and shooting kids as they ran out of the school . :(
 
Unfortunately, school shooting isn't 100% preventable.

My oldest sister is a psych nurse and she was telling me if a was person thought to a risk they could kept in a psych ward for 30 days to wait for a court hearing to see if they need to kept in longer b/c they're suicidal or homicidal . They would be see by a psychologist while waiting to go to court . That does not happen anymore , now a person is kept in a psych ward for 3 days while waiting for a court hearing , if they're found to be of no threat to the public and their self they're free to go. They only get 3 days
of help , this is done to save money . So the insurance companies is part of the blame , they're not allowing people to stay in a psych ward long enough to get an evaluation and the court is going along with it.
