Does anyone experience going on a cruise before? I haven't it and I'm worried about getting a seasick, ruin my vacation. How do you prevent it? I'm going on a Halloween deaf cruise this October.

I was told that sea bands does work too.....check at over the counter at Wal Mart, Target or any drug store...I may will get that if i am pregnant...I heard it helped mama to be with morning sickness. :)

I didn't get seasick for the most part. The only time I had a issue was when I was on a smaller ship in bad weather...but that night I also drank some beer. From what I have read, you feel less movement on a larger ship...so the larger the better. Also, the patches and things from the drugstore work if you do get sick.

Quirkylibra is right the bigger the ship the better it is. My grandad was an old sailor and he use to say the only cure for seasickness on a ship is to sit under a palm tree ! :laugh2: Kevin.

One test is if you dont get sick on a roller coaster then you wont get sick on a ship!!!

That's not always true. Hubby can handle any kids of motion on solid ground, but once he's on the water, he can't handle it. He loves to fish, so we have to get him the patches all the time. Fresh water is easier than salt water, so for him, a cruise is out.

I've never had the money for a cruise, so I couldn't say, but then, I've never had a problems. I went drift-boat fishing and had no problem.

It won't hurt to see your local doctor to see if dr can give you a few ones as backs up if you happen to feel sick or not.

If you do get vertigo or motion sickness, go to doc and get a Scopalamine patch, they're pretty cheap. Also OTC dramamine can help.

I don't ever get motion sick on cruises although always I feel slight "sway" of boat for first few hours then it goes away. My problem is the day after I fly home from them, THEN I start feeling that "sway" when I stand still! Its weird and it goes on for a couple days then drifts away. I have heard 1 other person say that they have exact same experience as mine.

A roller coaster, going as fast as 60mph from a height of up to 200 ft, is not on solid ground but a auto, even one going 100+ mph, is.

It is on tracks, which is equivalent to solid ground for what your body reacts.

If it isn't on tracks, then it is not solid ground, but of course all the passengers are dead.

I would be worried about getting a virus on a cruise ! I would not want to be stuck on a boat with all those people from the horrors stories I heard on the news!
