Rust and dents on vehicle(s)?

I want you to pretend that you are a customer looking to buy a bike from me. It does not matter if you come to my house to buy a bike or if I drop it off at your front door.

I'm interested in what you think of my vehicle. You see that my vehicle has a lot of dents or has some rust. Will this make you less likely to buy a bike from me? You may figure that if a guy cannot take care of his vehicle, then he is not going to take care of bikes.

Or do you not worry? You figure that I bought my vehicle used. You figure that those rust and/or dents have been "inherited". They are outside my control.

I ask as I am wary about buying a vehicle that has too much rust or dents. I want to look good for customers. I may sell some cheap bikes, but yet, I want vehicle(s) that represents that I take care of my belongings.

I think it reflects on the business what the vehicle looks like. Not that I don't expect a dump truck to be dirty, or someone doing lawn care to have brush or something in the trailer, or a construction work truck to have some dents. But something pulling up with rust and puffing smoke doesn't look so good. If I know that I'm looking to cut corners, it doesn't bother me so much.

Not every customers would react the same. But, you would see more business if you show your professional in selling business.

it depends . is the price so low and the condition shows? If I dont care about dent/rust then Ill get it based on price. If I see a very nice bike, and see low price, I am gonna be wary about it stolen or something wrong with it.

Just like a used car salesmen. You ARE a used salesmen and it just happened to be bikes, not cars. You can't please everyone. You will get tire kickers and leaves. Part of being in the business. Your business will thrive if you make people feel comfortable and feel you are honest so they or others will come back. simple. Its all about attitude and frankly - based on your many other posts here on AD to rant on things you sell or your customers you seem very opinionated.

Well, you do live in the Rust Belt.

Now, if you showed up in my area with a rusty vehicle, that would be suspicious.

Seriously--Hubby drives a work van, and he can't stand to let it get dirty. It's no longer new but he keeps up its appearance. Customers seem to appreciate that. (Also, he doesn't store any paperwork on the van dash.)
