Rural living means less stress

Most of my life I've lived either in the 'burbs, towns, or small cities. Right now I live in a suburban area. My only complaint is commuting to work. I hate it. I hate spending so much stressful time on the road. The resulting accidents have been no fun either. :( There is no public transit for the routes and schedules that I have.

In the past, I've lived in areas that were within walking distance of most of my daily needs. I liked that. :)

I just recently ran from living in the City of Jacksonville. I hated it!! Apartments were noisey, no sense of privacy, crowded roads and traffic off Blanding Blvd daily. Crimes were aweful. Now I am back in the woods!! peace and quiet. Got a garden going, Kids have an actual yard to play in. Ride quads and tractors. Learn how to be self sufficient and awesome swimming holes all around. Plenty to do in the country. Just got to get up and do them. Good things are not always movies and malls. The kids find plenty to do here. They found a neat fishing hole that brings in some awesome Butter cats. :) We see deers, turkeys, and the kids even chased a cow back in the neighbors yard which is about a mile away. Yup, Nutin like living in the country.

Indeed. Open, green country beats out daily gridlocks and congestion.

Besides, you can get one of those 55 inch high definition LED TVs and have the whole family there in the living room with your popcorns, candies, drinks, chips and what have you. Just pop in that $1 Red Box DVD movies for the night complete with surround sound speakers around the room. Who says you need to go to a movie theater to have fun?

Only 55 inches?

I thought they were fifty feet! :laugh2:

Thats how you do it in the country. Get a kickass projector and set up a screen inside your barn.

Have a bar installed in the barn, use hay bales as seats and makeout areas.

have a bbq roast going, popcorn maker, etc .. mess can be cleaned up by night time scavengers.

COUNTRY.

We don't live in the country but we have racoons, various snakes, lizards, turtles, squirrels, possums, bunnies, toads, frogs, and a variety of birds in our backyard. In nearby areas where I drive, I often see deer, vultures, wild turkeys, egrets, blue herons, eagles, and hawks.

That's pretty much what we do, although our TV is a few inches smaller. Maybe once every couple years we go to an IMAX movie.

We also have all those animals traipsing through our city yard.

I live in a city , it is a very small city and there no stress in living here. Rural living can be stressful in the winter when you have to drive so far to get to stores!

In my very big city yard, we have lizards, snakes, more lizards and feral cats. There have been raccoons and possums as well. Not to mention, the stray gator or two.

We have no gator here but we do had coyotes, foxes, rabbits a deer and a wild turkey mother with her babies in our yard! And possums! When I was feeding a feral cat , I had bowl of dried cat food on chair that was on my deck. I when I looked out my sliding door I saw a possum sitting right in the bowl of cat food! I knocked on the window to get the possum to leave and it just looked at me and said me do you mind I am eating!

That is my kind of place to live....lots of greenery and it's a metro area of over 250,000 with 167,000 in Santa Rosa, California city proper. It IS expensive to live there.
