Republican Sex scandals since 2006

The way I see it, The Demos & the Repubs are about "neck to neck". The old saying rings true...."Boys will be Boys, and Politicians will be Politicians".

Part of the problem is they don't confine their activities to private bedrooms.

Sometimes they also involve alcohol and/or drug abuse, sex in public places, physical force, sexual harassment on the job, blackmail and extortion, prostitution, lying under oath, using public funds for their honey, etc.

Ah, these kind of things don't trickles down to international news as "sex scandals" sans prostitutions, escorts, relationships with interns and so on. However we view those not as political, but rather civil problems.

Sexual harassments, blackmailing and extortions, public indecency, lying and misuse of public funds are not classified as "sex scandals" here. We call them for what they are, and don't put them under the umbrella of "sex scandals." We had an issue with a premier using public fund for his personal life, however we just called it "grant scandal" or "tax scandal."

So you can imagine how international viewers get confused when American citizens are in uproar about someone's private life since our definition of the phrases are different.

Even though I don't like the guy I am quoting here...

Paraphrased from Pierre Trudeau regarding the matters of whether or not adults should be subjected to the Criminal Code: "The state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation."

I say paraphrased because the original quote is: "obviously, the state's responsibility should be to legislate rules for a well-ordered society. It has no right or duty to creep into the bedrooms of the nation."

I never really understood why Americans make such big deals about the sex scandals (fi they don't involve underaged, which case it is not really a scandal-- but rather a criminal act.)

It all started out women fearing for their jobs if they don't listen what the boss tell them to do. That's why. Same with professors.. "I will not give you a good grade if you don't sleep with me"

Um, let's not play the intellectual dishonesty game by doing the obvious backpeddling.

The title of this thread "Republican Sex scandals since 2006" and not "Both parties have had their shares of sex scandals." Pretty obvious on what the main thrust of this thread was for.

Ummm....the post about proving that they are equal was directed at you. It didn't backfire on the OP. It backfired on you.:laugh2:

It's about being faithful which people look to as a sign of moral strength and that reflects a person's character. Clinton failed on that part but Bush (even Reagan) remain faithful to his wife. It's the people we would want to look up to. Not another prety-boy Edward kind of thing with a baby in tow.

Given that, I guess your beloved Republicans are no more moral or of any better character than your hated Democrats are. You proved it with the previous post showing equality.:D

Kind of like McCain remaining faithful to his wife? Or, let's see...a certain politician from the south who recently got busted lying about being on the Appalachian Trail.

How could you possibly know who has remained faithful throughout a marraige and who hasn't? All you have any access to is who got caught and who didn't. Big difference there. And there is a very good reason that Bush was faithful (if in fact he was). And it would have very little to do with sterling character and reputation for honesty. Particularly since he possessed neither.:laugh2:

Appears to be a case of vicarious living. Or, given the divorce rate here, an attempt to deflect guilt so no one will look too closely at their own discretions.:laugh2:

Didn't you see? Democrats are winning on these sex scandals thing over Republicans. Take consolation of that fact.

Well, that may be true but we should expect better of them.

Or maybe, just criticize what they did POLITICALLY wrong instead of tying in the act along with it?

No one really give a damn on a political level if you have a few escorts even if it is illegal to solicate on a civil level. Now if you were using say Gallaudet's grant money to pay for those escorts, then it is politically wrong as a GRANT scandal.

Your post showed them running neck and neck. Perhaps it is you that didn't see?

Besides...everyone knows Republicans don't have sex! They are much too moral and ethical to engage is such a degrading activity.:laugh2:

*roll eyes* (if they don't have sex, why you think they have babies) Only democrats don't know how to be creative in their marriage... they go off looking a new sex partner. :P

Seriously, it is true that both party cheat though.

Well, the stork brings them, of course!:giggle: Remember...the Repubs are all about abstinence.

If Democrats are the only ones that don't know how to be creative, how do you explain the number of Repubs that have been caught red handed in sex scandals?

I've already mention both party cheat. (and the other joke was just an response to "repub don't have sex" )

My point has always been that they, indeed, ARE equal. I never felt that either party is anything less than power hungry men and women. Some have honest ambitions to help the country, but mostly, it is about power.
Absolutely. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. That's why I don't trust these guys from either party to take over the banking industry, the car industry, the health care industry, and so on. They can't even take care of the problems in their own personal lives. Why would anyone want to give them the reigns to even more power to solve our problems?

darkdog, eloquently put.

Let's see, *checking stats*, Obama still cratering....in the mid 40s now.

An old joke, but it goes with the topic somewhat:

A cannibal was walking through the jungle and came upon a restaurant operated by a fellow cannibal. Feeling somewhat hungry, he sat down and looked over the menu...

+ Tourist: $5
+ Broiled Missionary: $10.00
+ Fried Explorer: $15.00
+ Baked Democrat or Republican : $100.00

The cannibal called the waiter over and asked, 'Why such a price difference for a Politician?'

The cook replied, 'Have you ever tried to clean one? They're so full of shit, it takes all morning.'
