I know that as well....

Which is why I don't agree and do agree.....the bill needs more work.

My boyfriends mother makes more than the guy does and now has to take care of two very young children, who also has a husband who has a Heart troubles, and she herself has several medical issues also.

She has a mortage, a car, and whatever bills she has left. So yes,

she is doomed too.

And, she would be more doomed should her husband require catastrophic long term care for the heart disease, and either have no insurance, or have the insurance company drop him because he is too great a risk.

The bill was supposed to be an overhaul but it already needs an overhaul....No doubt:lol:

Poor or rich. I'm sure it will be subsidized by healthy people that are required to have health insurance. Paying for it.

Just like social security. Everyone has to pay social security taxes. Now they will make everyone pay for health care.

Exactly. It is a risk to pay out ratio.

I had no doubts either....sure took them a while.

Now it's time to sit back and watch the fun.

It'll be interesting. Oh wait, isn't that a Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times?"

I understand what you are trying to say.

You are saying that under this bill, Insurance companies will not be dropping people, and cannot deny those with chronic illnesses, and health care insurance will be provided to all.

I think that part is great.....

however, what I am questioning is this, if the government is going to subsidize the cost for health insurance, if some of the population is not eligible, where are they getting the money from? The percentage of the people in this country that is unemployed is at what percent, and is it still rising? With the economy looking like it is now, with no end in sight in the near future, it is beginning to look like we are going to be in deep doo doo.

I can't see it any other way unless you raise the cost of the insurance and penalties high enough to make up for the slow rise in the numbers of people unemployed who cannot pay for insurance. Not unless they want to dip into other program funds and post IOU's like they do with Social Security. Will the taxes be higher now?

What it comes down to is money....with a mix of force mixed in with the mandate.

If you see another way that the government will use, what is it?

While you have been posting links about the Healthcare Reform to better educate us on it, while I sit here, I am wondering this:

Does it always come out, like they (the government) want it to, in the end ?

I guess the solution is that we will have to volunteer to work (or perhap mandate) in order for healthcare to work. I definitely would not make other countries pay for it as they have enough problems of their own.

Well, many of those unemployed still have health care coverage through their spouse's employer. With reform, you can keep your insurance even if you loose your job. Of course, right now there is COBRA, but the cost is so prohibitive very very few can afford it.

Government subsidizes the health care of a certain group now..the Medicaid/Medicare patients. What we are concerned with is the people who are uninsured because the insurance company has dropped them, or their employer does not offer an employer based plan and their income is too great for them to qualify for Medicaid. You are assuming that the unemployment rate will rise at a rate greater than the rate of people now becoming insured under the reform bill. Statistics don't bear that out. Likewise, with the subsidized care, people will be able to obtain preventive care instead of having to wait until they are diagnosed with a catastophic illness, go to the ER, and receive care in the tens of thousands, often hundreds of thousands, of dollars that can't be paid and must be absorbed by you and I in the form of rising health care costs.

I doubt that there will ever be a plan that will not have areas that could be improved upon, or that some will not object to. It simply is not possible to accomplish. Therefore, we are left with the question, "Is this better for more people than the current situation?" If it results in those millions of uninsured people being able to obtain preventive care that is decidedly cheaper than care for a chronic or catastrophic illness, and medical bills that were previously denied are now covered, then I would say the answer is "yes".

No, government doesn't always get what it wants in the end. Compromise is the name of the game. Just as compromises have been made on this bill when compared to the bill of Sept 2009. Many have tried to get health care reform passed prior, and failed. So no, government does not always get what it wants.

What it comes down to under the current system is money. Those with money get health care. Those without it don't. I, frankly, see it as a shame that a family can have two working adults in the family, both working full time, and still not have the means to purchase insurance or afford a routine doctor visit.

People believe more people on insurance will lower cost of healthcare. More people are getting care that they need.

But actually, My husband was in the hospital, and they charged him almost $2,000 for staying in a room for 3 hours. he thought that was ridiculous. His father told him that the hospital sometimes use people who do have insurance or money to cover the cost of people who don't have insurance so that make it so expensive. I don't know this reform will work out in the long run or not, but we'll see.

Yup, in last 20 years ago, COBRA was reasonable so middle class families could afford it if their job don't offers insurance or have wait for length of time so COBRA has getting more expensive now, how is sad.

I hope this reform also allow room for people to pick any family members in their insurance. Rather they live with them or not. Like children.

That is the current situation. Reform will change that.

I wish that health insurance would cover all families so no limited age like usually many parent would drop the dependents from cover when they reach 25 years old.

That would be an issue for family court. One parent or the other is usually required to maintain health insurance for the children no matter their residence. If a family member is a dependent, they can be included in your health care. If the family member is not a dependent, they will have to obtain their own health care.
