Just a question about this Xbox 360, which I do not own one at the moment, just yet. I have read about these RRODs (Red Ring of Death) does this affect the console when you are connected to the internet and play online gaming? Or how did the RROD even end up in the console or whatnot?

It has nothing with internet or connection, it's all from poor design on hardware that where heat would flow from CPU and GPU, especially on lack of bigger heatsink could handle the CPU's temperature, PowerPC is always produce too much heat.

RROD will occur if you start up the Xbox 360 or playing games, whenever would happen in anytime.

Uh English please?

Anyway, it has nothing to do with Xbox live or other accessories. Like Foxrac said, it has to do with poor design of the hardware. Obviously Microsoft really need to do the redesign of the Xbox360 console.

LOL, to Shel, it's all Chinese. Anyway, it is a flaw in the design of the mainboard. When the heat increases, the mainboard will bend and then crack.

Some part are different motherboard, known as little redesign like reduce of nanometer and add larger heatsink, usually in Falcon and Jasper.

Falcon's failure rate is 10%, that's little too much to me but no report for Jasper yet.

I wonder, what is the difference if I get one from japan, no? Would it apply the same schittt, yes?

Same problem...

Xbox 360 don't sell very well in Japan.

PS3 rarely have issues like that so they are okay so far as I know.

well, there is a small issue with that PS3's -- some GB versions, such as 60GB which is the popular kind -- it can play PS1, PS2, and PS3 games, play movies and Play Blu ray discs, but 40Gb, only play Ps2 and PS3, and movies - 80Gb doesn't play the movies, nor Ps2. Sad, isn't it?

It's not hardware issue, Sony took emulator out of PS3 to make cheaper, 40 GB PS3 in USA couldn't play PS2 games either, same goes to newer 80 GB can't play PS2 games.

Movies? all model of PS3 can play movies without any problem, it's fine.

I own the 60GB model but not too long ago I have upgraded my 60GB hard drive to a 320GB hard drive which is very nice. But actually, the 40GB can play PS1 games not PS2 games and lack other features as fewer USB slots, lack MD, SD and other media slots for the 40GB model. I never heard that 80GB lacks the ablitiy to play movies...thats crazy cause it should. older 80GB models can still play PS1/PS2 games as in Metal Gear Solid 4 bundles with the 80GB...my friend have that version. But now Sony is selling the 80GB models that have the same functions as the 40GB model for $400.

Sony now lacked the backwards compatiablity in newer PS3 models. However, I hear rumors somewhere that Sony would release some PS2 games on the PSN in the future which is highly possible but dont know when. I wont be suprised to see that happening as it did with Xbox live's Xbox orginals.

So in a way, the PS3 will be partly backwards compatiable lol.

on the PSN network instead, damn them. What if some people refuse to connect the playstation with the internet, hmm? No difference, I guess, I take it, bad luck, no?

And thanks for the information, Steel X, I appreicate your time. :)

The internet connection on the PS3 have wi-fi bulit in and the PSN is free. All you have to do is sign up and then install the connection with firmware updates and your all good to go.

I tried to sign up with PSP schitt and i am waiting for the registeration something of a sort -- do you know how that is processed, no?
