I'm not sure if it's possible. AFAIK, Directway uses the DirecTV satellite network in downloading your Internet content. However, for uploading, you'll still need to rely on an dialup account. Needless to say, dialup speeds are too slow for VP 100 usage.

I already send email and wait for relpy and will post here.
Direcway connect internet can up to 700kbps.

That's true, but that's the download speed. The upload speed is only 128kbps.

Remember when you make a VRS or any video conference type call you're not just downloading video you're also uploading your image, it's just as importatnt that the VRS operator or the person you're calling can see you well. 128kbps isn't fast enough for a good video signal. If I recall correctly Sorenson recomends at least 256kbps.

Direcway

Yes the speed would be possible but some impossible due the weather such a cloudy day or anything that can reduce noise freq for signal between space and ground.

It would going happen at one day so far there wireless broadand is good choice and direcway or starband or Wildblue. So far we have space internet of three different companies.

Dish internet can be 30 seconds behind because it has go on into air and tranfer space sat. and go back to earth and return to dish that go on wire into server and go back and forth..

It will going happen one day that videophone will be a lot improve. It will happen for one day in market.

I have the hard answer! Been there and fool around with Direcway... IMHO, Direcway SUCKS!!! Their speed is pretty much same as dial up speed. So to use VP with Direcway is IMPOSSIBLE! Know why? There is about 3 to 5 seconds delay with transmission, making VP IMPOSSIBLE because VP requires steady stream of videostream, in other words ZERO delay is required. So, sorry, any satellite dish won't work. I haven't found one that would work with VP well. I know Starband, they are ok, but still requires delays, sigh.
The only good thing about this dish is that they are awesome with TV, better than cabletv!

Hope this helps. :)

If you have cable or DSL in your area and want to use VP, forget the Direcway or any other satellite dish. They are just good for areas without cable or DSL. One of my coolest friend lives up in the mountains, that is how I found out.

Nope! Reason? there is delay with packet send and recieve, that is why it is impossible with VP. To understand the technology behind the Direcway, when you enter a data, it does send to satellite, then the satellite send the data back to earth in Atlanta, GA, and there is packet transfer and their own firewall system making the packet move back with 2 to 5 seconds time frame for each packets. No videostream can deal with this delays.

If you get the professional plan you should be fine. Though latency could be a problem. You should have at least 256kb/s each direction but 200 should still be useable.

You got the idea correctly, but not always 30 seconds but this is possible if there is heavy satellite traffic going on.

One day? I am not so sure because nobody wants to spend billions of dollars to upgrade the system. Most of the time, companies would say, well if we have something and it works "Just fine" why bother spend alot money to upgrade? If you say what about VP? The companies would say, less than 1% of customers wants VP, why bother? But I could be wrong, who knows?

Yes that made sense if one customer want for that purpose using videophone reason. Why waste, and that could be true and what about travel that need communicate or report news to reduce require the upload to publish the nationwide news. you know what i am saying but the news report that location need be steady and not move while process on news report but if move and the signal will show grablish on news? just wonder if that same idea for wireless that Sorenson or WRS (Wireless Relay Service)

Depending on what kind of "Wireless", if your talking about "Wireless" over "WAN" (Wide Area Network) like Tmo, Sprint, etc... They don't have the capablities to deal with videostream. Europe got 3G network which was intended for videostreaming. I am not sure if the Europe statement stands up for 3g as fact or just exaggerated. But, if your talking about home wireless network, it would work just fine as long as it isn't too far from the access point of wireless standpoint.
The only solution I could think of is improve codec for videostream. There is one already in use that could have crystal clear, tv quality videostream at 56k speed. Know who owns this software? It is Hughe, Inc. The owner of DirecTV/Direcway and DishNET system. They refused to let anybody use their videostreaming software without hefty royalities, so we are practically stuck. Don't you realize that the actual satellite speed is not even any better than 56k, and you could watch 8 different tv channels without losing the picture quality!!! DAMN IT, GREEDY Hughes, Inc!

VF! Do you have at least billion of dollar to start it? It ain't cheap to set up wireless network faster than what is current out there.
But nice dream anyway! :-D
