Question about putting sentences together with ASL

ASL Grammar

Dont forget also: Deixis, indexic, Indexical verbs, pro-droping, Affixes, Reduplication, hand shape & location, etc.. If anyone wants to know more about this there is something called Asl Morphology. Google "Asl Morphology"

There's a new book grammer learning guide called Demystified, American Sign Language. I would recommend this for intermediate signers who are trying to understand better proper ASL grammar.

Can you just put any words together to form a sentence?

Or is it different?

Like can I look up the words Nice, to, meet, you, separately and put them together to make a sentence?
when signing you do not want to use english sentence structure, it will be very confusing when signed. when you are signing you start with the "time" then move to the "Topic" third is the "comment" then last is the "question". so like in the sentence "i am going to the store" in sign it would be "STORE I GO-to". or if it is a question like "when did you go to the store" it would come out like "STORE YOU GO-to WHEN?" or "WHEN STORE YOU GO-to WHEN?"

You can't really put ASL together into sentences.

ASL doesn't really follow specific grammar structures. One sentence could be said in different ways... but the big thing that ASL lacks is words like "is" "are" "am" etc.
ASL doesn't follow English grammar structure; it follows ASL grammar structure. The most common sentence order is topic-comment.

Of course, one English sentence can be said many ways, too.
