question about nightmare..

Hear Again, do you mind if we continue our discussion in PM or email?

Or do you think it's good for others to be able to read? (I just want to wait for your reply before I reply to your other posts.)

if others aren't bored reading our posts (and i hope other ad'ers will chime in and let me know), i don't mind talking about it. however, i'd rather not discuss specifics regarding the details of my traumatic experiences.

I do. I also don't like it when people come up behind me. I have been known to hurt people (unintentionally) because they startled me and I reacted from fear. I'm sighted, btw. I prefer to see people coming towards me. I also sometimes wish I had eyes in the back of my head, but ofc, I do not.

*sigh* That's just one of my triggers. I flip out if someone comes up behind me and tries to touch me. :(

i startle easily as well when that happens to me. i also don't like it when people stand too close to me.

How about a dream where you are actually petting an American bald eagle that hangs out near your house?

Of course I wouldn't want to talk about specifics of trauma. But I just want to know from other folks if they think we're monopolizing this thread. If we are we can move to PM! Thanks folks. <smile>

Same here. I have been known to punch people or shout at them. <whoops> And of course afterwards I feel awful because I am a passivist by nature! I am against violence so that is definitely not present day Nika acting!

i've never punched anyone, but i do yell. i experience intense anger (mainly when i'm at the end of a manic episode). when i'm in a "mood," you don't want to cross my path -- especially if you decide to touch me without permission.

the only exception to this is if i'm experiencing a flashback. in that case, if someone touches me, i get violent.

I once reacted by elbowing someone in the ribs. They came up from behind me and I didn't expect it. I reacted before I knew who it was, and ended up hurting someone. I've also shouted at people. I'm alot better now, but for awhile, things were very rough. I feel badly for the way I reacted, but sometimes, you just can't help it. :(

that's exactly what my therapist said when he asked me how i reacted during a flashback. sometimes you're stuck in the moment and have no choice but to react.

I wasn't in the midst of a flash when this happened. I just was highly anxious and reacted the way I did. Flashbacks are another issue altogether. I have no recollection of how I reacted during alot of my flashbacks.

Nor do I but people tell me afterwards. I've had some experiences like that at work, panicking just because I was so anxious, even though I wasn't in flashback.

Makes it really hard to hold a job.

neither do i. as i mentioned before, i lose touch with reality due to auditory hallucinations and it isn't until someone tells me what i've done that i'm aware of what happened.

i have problems with anxiety and panic whenever i'm manic or come out of a flashback. i feel so anxious like i could literally jump out of my skin.

Aw Hear Again! Let me know if those holds I told you about help. <concerned>

NOT funny, aghori. <very mad> nika, a sighted-hearing neighbor of mine who recently moved into my apartment complex is here. she's interested in learning more about how i use a computer. i logged onto ad, checked out several threads including this one and she was shocked by the picture aghori posted. it's a picture of freddy kreuger from the movie, "nightmare on elm street." i can take a joke, but didn't find that funny at all.
