We've had eight dogs and I grew up with them, a little won't kill them.
But raw milk or unpasteurized milk is the real beneficial stuff, the pasteurized milk people drink well leads to many allergies, people in other countries who DON"T drink milk usually have more calcium than us North Amercians.
For example, getting into the nitty gritty of nutrition here one carrot in the 1950's has the exact same nutritional benefits as eating nine carrots nowadays.
Carrots are good for the dogs, BUT......(and this is important) any human food that the dogs eat should and must be organic because their bodies are smaller so they get the effects of toxins way faster than humans do. Beagles which is our favorite breed have really sensitive stomachs, most dogs will eat grass if they have an upset stomach, hopefully that's not sprayed with pesticides becaue those chemicals (all chemicals) have a half-life.
For example if you played behind the truck as a kid on your bike with pesticide sprays coming out of the truck on a hot day, or something similar you wouldn't see any of the effects for 10-30 years because those chemicals have a half-life of 10-30 years.
I've read that grapes and raisons are NOT good for dogs at all, my brother squished a grape on Princess's head and she just hated them after that, we had one beagle that went absolutely nuts over marshmellows.
I don't think milk is safe, a little is okay. Humans though are the ONLY species of the entire world that drinks milk of another species which ain't so healthy.
Organic Carrots are good to help clean their teeth, they love eating that.
The dogs who eat raw organic foods live longer and are healthier. The Nexus Magazine has a few articles on the dangers and lies of over-vaccinations for pets, we had one puppy who died from too many vaccinations as a baby that was a long long time ago.
If you google the "Shirley's Wellness Center", they have good info. on dog food, and pet wellness.
Also if a dog is older, is lacking vitality or even losing his sight what really helps that I've read about so many times is giving them cottage cheese with flax oil, or ground flax.........it just brings back their energy and zest.
The Flax oil would be good for any dogs, just a bit with their daily meal, but the flax must be used in combination with a good protein meal, but there's some connection with the cottage cheese, helps people too. It has a name, but you'd read about it at the Shirley's Wellness Site.
Back before the 1950's all the dog foods you see in the stores never existed, and most dogs lived into their 17th and 21 year. It's the quality of the nutrition in the foods that make a difference.
