Is this maladaptive?

No that is not what I mean. But it doesn't surprise me that you are having difficulty understanding the topic. You are a conservative are you not?
Conspiracy thinking and paranoia are not the domain of any particular political persuasion.
That sounds like conspiracy thinking to me!![]()
And not all disorders are necessarily bad. There is a reason why some professionals use the terms "adaptive" and "maladaptive." Like.. Martha Stuart is a OCPD, however she's an adaptive one at that. If she was maladaptive, then she wouldn't be on TV; rather be she would be floundering somewhere else if she was maladaptive-- think "compulsive hoarding" in an apartment.
So... conspiracy thinking being an illness? Once it start interfering with the person's quality of life, then it become a maladaptive trait. When it's manageable, there is nothing wrong with that line of thinking.
Well, then why are you all are joking about conservatives?

One of my roomates was a liberal and she was prone this kind of thinking.

Exactly. I don't Ted Kozinski could be considered a strong runner for the conservative party, either.![]()
Thanks goodness I didn't have HIM as my roomate.

No doubt! But then, he would have probably made a pretty good chemistry tutor!![]()

People love to believe in aliens. When I have insomnia, I watch late night tv and sometimes they have UFO/alien show on. I watch them for fun. I wouldn't worry about that unless he starts building space ships or alien probes.![]()

I heard an expert speak at a family law course. She cited the stats for personality disorders and I was stunned. Then, she said that there were many more people who didn't qualify for the formal diagnosis but have personality disorder characteristics that significantly impair their ability to function and quality of life. She said that these were the people in family courts. I believe her! It's a zoo. Quite an education.
Yea, and whenever I'm in the woods, I wonder if an alien would land there.![]()
