Have you posted on Craigslist outside your area before? I'm in Chicago. For example, if I was selling a 1999 Chevy Venture van, I'll not expect anyone to drive 2 hours to come and buy it. I mean, I know I would not drive 2 hours to buy an used Venture van. It would be plain silly. I'm sure many will agree with me. However, if I was to sell a 1969 Jeep Gladiator, I may post on Iowa craigslist. Maybe someone from Iowa won't mind a road trip to IL and buy it. If you've posted on craigslist outside your area, tell me about it.

I'm interested in craigslist not E Bay or Kijiji. What was your result about posting outside your area?? If you want to share what you sold, great, but that is not needed. Just curious about your result posting on craigslist outside your area.
 
My son posted outside our area, advertising a used SUV and someone drove 7 hours to buy it and drove straight back home the same day. :lol:
 
You can do whatever you want, however, CL has filters in place that will block duplicate postings. You will have to modify each posting to make it different. In the past, scammers would use the same ad all over but add different gibberish at the bottom of each ad and change the color to white so no one can see the extra stuff.

There are rules in CL that prohibit you from posting in more than one area. If you live in Chicago and want to post an ad in Buttecrack, Iowa, you will have to put the location in your advertisement, and people will see that you are from out of state and "flag" your post.

Serious CL shoppers know how to search for items. I had a guy from Washington state buy something from me, and I am on the other side of the continent. I've had at least 5 buyers come from at least 5 hours away to get stuff.
 
I bought my current Jeep Cherokee from a Craigslist seller who was located 100 miles away (about a two-hour drive each way).

When TCS bought his work van on eBay, he rode the bus from SC to MI to get it. He stayed overnight at his mom's in MI, then drove the van back home. It's at least a two-day drive each way.

If the deal is good, people will take it.
