I took the wheels from my wifes van to have repaired. The shop Charged $140 each to weld the cracks, turn, smooth and refinish as well as dismount and mount the tires. I got the one back after several days of being repaired supposedly....
All they did was hammer the dent out, still cracked, no welding done, nothing but tire holding air?
I asked and they said, oh, we didn't need to weld it as its holding air. I said I was quoted $140 for it to be repaired ( welded..ect...) so I asked if there was a refund being they didn't weld it and only hammer the piss out of it, not even remotely straight? They flat out said NO !
So, I liked their page on facebook and let loose on it at well as give a negative review on their website and I filed a claim with BBB... I am pissed. They said if I wanted it welded, they would still do it but need to leave it another week... bullshit, with their shoddy work already, I want a refund and go someplace else. Lying bastards !!!

Why you are tanturm?? Why you angry? you control calm down! you think so focus positive! we cannot do help you :( it is hard for you problem! if suppose can help you!

How much to just buy good wheels from a junkyard?

I don't blame him for being pissed off ! I would be too. I once brought my car to a tire shop and showed the guy which tire I wanted to be fixed and the bardt I don't blame him for being pissed off ! I would be too. I once brought my car to a tire shop and showed the guy which tire I wanted to be fixed and the bastard worked on the wrong one! I told him to fix the right and not to charge me for it ! The ass would not do it and I never back to the joint again and told everyone I knew that the place suck! There are a lot dishonest people around.

Junk yard don't have them, and ones I did buy from an identical van wont fit since ours is a Walt Disney edition, so bigger brakes/rotors/calipers...16" wheels where the stock standards are 15". They cant even special order them. Junk yard $120, new $350 if you can find them. I agree and told them I wont be back. Even if they make this transaction right, I wont deal with them again.

Anger management people....

Om....
LOL not like Im gonna hurt someone, Just tired of dishonest people/companies in todays world. My money is limited, I cant afford to throw it away where I was trying to save the rim on the cheap rather than buy new or used and chance them not fitting, already had 3 sets as well as 3 fuel tanks that didn't work, had to go hunt down my own at the junk yard and found the fuel tank.

I would do same thing, this business owner isn't being honest. Guess they got boat payment coming up. Go for it rant on them though FB and Twitter. I did the same thing, and I'm starting to see the effect on their business. They are now screaming for new customers. Not my problem. What they did to me is totally unacceptable.

Oh, I know what you mean by special edition, same with my truck, its special edition too. Some parts are harder to get than regular edition. I had same issue with tires, almost impossible finding them at reasonable price, used? No way!. I can't go under 12 hundred for set of 4! Technically I could but I don't want risk tires blown up from heavier weight. My wheel rim is 20" and the tires is LT not P type.

Oh, is the wheel aluminum or steel?

I don't think welding will help, just a maybe.
Yes, aluminum, I watched them weld a few while I was there, it takes a special skill not to turn it into a puddle of molten metal. Aluminum is hard to weld but with proper training you can weld aluminum. They were supposed to weld a 2 inch crack, turn it on a lathe and polish it to almost new condition....yeah, I see how far they got after using a hammer. I should have just hammered it myself and saved 140 bucks, but yet again, I bent over and grabbed my ankles !!!!!

Either find another welder or find another rim. I know aluminum rim cost more. That is one reason why I hate aluminum wheels. When I bought my truck, I made sure that the wheel is steel. Had enough of bad experience with aluminum wheels.

Yep, I will take steel/chrome clad over aluminum any day, but if the aluminums come standard so be it as long as they look nice...lol

When I put a cold air intake in the car a few years ago and used a tuner, I used facebook, which I got rid of the account right after that and raised hell because the company put the wrong code in the tuner and my car was barely running and the check engine light was on, which meant my car was immobilised. They originally told me they would email me a fixed file to load onto the tuner, but it would take 2 weeks and that being my only mode of transportation was unacceptable.

Anyway, I went on facebook and would not shut up until they fixed my issue, they told me they would get it to me that night. I have also had a tire place break my key fob and not tell me and they refused to pay for it and a friend gets his oil changed at walmart and they slammed the hood with the battery on top of the engine, which dented his hood badly and they never told him about it. He went back the next day when he saw it in the light of day and they refused to pay for the damage.

Too many stories of perfidious businesses.

Pretty much all places will do that if they think they can get away with it. I took my truck in to Walmart a couple months ago(posted about it in the auto section) for an oil change and they killed one of the alarm systems on it and wouldn't do anything about it. Another time and another shop I had my truck in over night for steering issues since it had to be aligned too and when I picked it up after I got home I noticed the hood had a dent on it. No one mentioned those things either time and wouldn't make it right either.

I took my van in for some transmission related problems. I picked it up and I saw that I needed gas so I was on the way to the gas station when I got a text from my mechanic, "come back I see leak". As I was coming back to his shop, I noticed my windshield was cracked on the bottom which is why I didn't notice it right away.

I arrived back, showed him the cracks. He quietly acknowledged it and assure me he will take care of it. Not sure if he knew about it, was hoping I'll not notice or was surprised one of his workers did it and is pissed secretly.

At least with this mechanic, he seemed honest and took care of my problems. He paid for a new windshield. So many dishonest ones out there but there are few that are honest and good to work with.

Om....

You have to kidding! So if you got screwed over by a tire store it would be OK with you?? The guy knew which tire needed work on but he was trying to get me to spend more $$$ than I needed by working on the WRONG tire that was a 'new' tire. No, you got it wrong the tire guy needed to take classes in how to be honest so people would not get ripped off!

Wow!

I had one damaged wheel on my ex-94' black Camaro. I asked America Tire Co where I bought the set about a wheel repair shop. The gave me a business card. I called the shop that told me to bring the wheel over without the tire for an estimate. They repaired it for $60 and it took about two days. They did a great job. BTW, I miss those 18" custom wheels called Opus One by Antera.

Next time ask your local Tire store for a business card of a trusted wheel repair shop.
