Pipe problem causes flooding, closing several gates
Pipe problem causes flooding, closing several gates - todaysthv.com | KTHV | Little Rock, AR

Officials at Reagan National Airport are evacuating part of a terminal and are closing a baggage claim area after a problem with a pipe caused flooding.

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said Saturday that flooding was ankle deep in the terminal C baggage claim area.

Spokeswoman Tara Hamilton says the area was closed along with about a dozen gates in terminal C. The airport has three terminals.

The gates were mostly for US Airways flights, and Hamilton says the airport is working with the airline to determine how to handle any affected passengers.

The flooding started around 3:30 p.m. The problem was located and the water was turned off about two hours later.

US Airways didn't immediately return a telephone message seeking comment.
