I always tell people I am from "Northern California" when they ask where I'm from, then I say, "Just north of San Francisco." Word. lol.

Only people I've heard say "Cali" are tourists, transplants, and a few people from SoCal.
 
Many of us call it Cali or Calif. I'm a native of Northern CA.

The one of me in the black shirt was from earlier this year, around March/April.

The one of me in blue/purple shirt and sunglasses was from recent August. :)
